Environmental Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY : The Environmental Specialist supports the Environmental Manager in the collection and reporting of data and is responsible for the operation of environmental systems in a direct and / or supervisory role.

The Environmental Specialist may supervise and interact with field staff on a variety of construction and technical issues across multiple divisions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Collects, reports, and tracks environmental monitoring at relevant locations. May be responsible for completing and maintaining facility operating records.

Activities could include conducting storm water compliance inspections, sampling, reporting and training in accordance with the existing facility-specifics Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and the general provision of the Industrial Storm Water General Permit (ISWGP).

  • Performs ongoing public relations and due diligence activities through communication with Division and Business Unit management as well as regulatory agency representatives.
  • In conjunction with the Environmental Manager, performs site audits, completes and analyzes monthly environmental reports and other status reports as well as assisting with completing or managing required environmental sampling and reporting.
  • Performs and oversees activities related to rolling out and completing necessary projects.
  • Conducts and supervises landfill monitoring, operation and maintenance of gas extraction or leachate management systems.
  • Oversees and works with outside vendors handling environmental systems and makes recommendations regarding vendor activities.
  • Ensures continued compliance by coordinating air and water monitoring, environmental data review and reporting and compliance task tracking.
  • Conducts and coordinates formal and informal environmental training for Environmental Technicians, Landfill Managers, and other employees.
  • May assist with project management duties associated with construction projects, including but not limited to, tracking construction progress and compliance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Certified Professional Engineer and / or Certified Professional Geologist designation obtained or in progress.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery / recycling.
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors.
  • Strong analytical skills and a focus on adding value to the Company.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Driver trainee

Driver Trainees will complete a comprehensive training program and be given the resources to take the CDL examination. Once the Driver Trainee completes the program and obtains a CDL, he / she will be placed into an open Driver position in one of the Company’s lines of business, including but not limited to, Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.

Internal Training Process : (if Driver Trainee is going through a CDL driving school to obtain CDL)

A Driver Trainee will be trained internally by Republic Services to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) to then assume the responsibility of a Driver with our Company.

The Driver Trainee will be paid through the training process and be given the resources to take the CDL examination. Once the Driver Trainee completes the program and obtains a CDL, he / she will be moved into a Driver position in one of the Company's lines of business, including but not limited to, Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program, which includes classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resources (including the loan of a truck) necessary to take and pass the state CDL examination.
  • Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
  • Learn to perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the assigned vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.

Report any safety issues on standard reports.

  • Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and / or supervisor.
  • Learn to operate manual and / or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Learn to identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
  • Learn to continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of any assigned vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time;

clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.

  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • After obtaining a CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company’s lines of business (i.e., Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Roll-Off).

POSITION SUMMARY : The HazMat Field Driver / Technician Driver will be responsible for proper transportation of various waste streams at various generator sites.

Operate Straight Trucks (box trucks) and Tractor Trailers to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.

Performs a variety of duties that comply with government regulations and procedures.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES :

  • Operates trucks which may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor trailers, box trucks, etc.
  • Performs LTL (less than load) pickups.
  • Maintains driver documents, such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, wastes manifests, etc.
  • Understands and ensures accurate placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation and labeling
  • Clear understanding of state weight limit laws.
  • Maintains company equipment
  • Understands and utilizes company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance, as assigned by leaders.
  • Performs DOT / MOT pre-trip and post trip vehicle inspections.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Processes hazardous and non-hazardous materials as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining good housekeeping at facility and on grounds.
  • May function as technician on lab pack and field service projects.
  • Participates in Site Safety program and required training.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, hydraulic and compressor systems.
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, motor controls, instrumentation, metal fabrication, and other maintenance functions.
  • Skilled using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
  • Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Class A Commercial Driver’s license is required with hazardous material and tanker endorsements or ability to get endorsement(s) within 90 days from hire date

POSITION SUMMARY : The Container Welder / Fabricator repairs, paints and performs maintenance to containers and roll-off boxes.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ability to follow directions with minimal supervisory involvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Minimum of 1 year welding experience OR COMPLETION OF A WELDING PROGRAM.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the forklift. For the purpose of stacking material, loading of trailers, and emptying full containers throughout the facility in an efficient and safe manner.

  • Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors are clean, and equipment is in proper operating condition.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Business Unit Finance Manager manages the accounting workflow and provides accounting direction and analytical support to division management.

This position is responsible for the overall quality of accounting and statutory financial compliance.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Manages accounting and payroll personnel and provides direction to the different accounting functional areas (invoice processing, billing, cash receipts, work order processing, credit analysis, receivable collections, month-end close, journal entries, statistical data, and payroll).
  • Manages financial internal control processes across all business unit functional areas (sales, customer service, operations, HR, payroll, etc.

  • Manages credit and collection function in an effort to maximize division cash-flow. Ensures division is in compliance with company credit and stop service policies.
  • Manages the accounting aspects of capital expenditures, transfers and retirements. Reviews and approves all related asset management sub-ledger transactions.
  • Supports and provides financial expertise to the General Manager during the annual budget and interim forecasting process.

Manages workflow, timeliness and analytical review of all budget and forecast data.

  • Manages and provides necessary support to financial audits including internal audits, external audits and peer reviews.
  • Provides support and responds to information requests from Corporate (accounting, tax, treasury, IT, HR, sales, environmental compliance, legal, etc.

as well as region and area field financial management as required.

Ensures completion and submission of financial filings and returns required by contractual agreements and government entities (e.

As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a collection truck while driving through neighborhoods and communities across the country.

  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement (REQUIRED).
