Overview

The Senior Director, Digital will set the overall digital marketing strategy that drives awareness, engagement, membership and supports bill passage.

The ideal candidate is a digital subject matter expert and experienced leader, with knowledge of how to build a roadmap for digital expansion across channels, while implementing accelerated online growth with an in-house team.

The Senior Director will be an experienced and innovative professional with the skills to advance our organization’s agenda, increase REFORM’s awareness and visibility, and expand our constituency through active engagement with our community, members and partners.

This position will report to REFORM’s Chief Marketing Officer and will be a key member of REFORM’s Marketing team.

Responsibilities :

  • Own digital department strategy and roadmap
  • Lead the Digital team by inspiring them, removing roadblocks, and helping them find a path to success.
  • Own relationships with digital leadership across board members and other key digital influencers
  • Oversee the management of the digital marketing budget to ensure every dollar is being used to maximum effectiveness and incorporate donated services and media (e.g. Google Grants)
  • Strengthen governance, processes, systems, toolkits, training and integrations.
  • Define and diversify content strategy with an approach scalable and adaptable for bi-partisan segments / cohorts, operations of content development and dissemination in alignment with channel strategy, and oversight of editorial calendars
  • Maximize the creation of data-driven digital content in alignment with business goals, which requires defining and meeting KPIs and an understanding of data sources, marketing tech capabilities and how performance data turns into actionable insights
  • Support and mentor the team in making real-time decisions that move at the speed of culture.
  • Oversee Reform’s social channels, email / text, website, landing pages, digital toolkits, CEO’s social channels and digital influencer strategies.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all information across digital channels; working cross-team for content and ensuring controls are in place.
  • Oversee digital fellowship program strategy and team programming.
  • Support storytelling through innovative recommendations in digital acquisition, social and distribution strategy. Operationalize and oversee any digital support necessary.
  • Responsible for overseeing small, selective digital media projects (without an agency).
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ideate and develop 360 activations for digital.
  • Work with the Advocacy team to deliver on state and district specific needs that supports community building, coalition work and bill passage.
  • Manage external agencies and consultants as needed, oversee any digital contracts with CMO.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years in digital marketing with at least 5 years in a strategic, leadership role with team oversight
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Demonstrable experience in setting digital strategy, implementing successful digital marketing efforts and content creation with an in-house team.
  • Dynamic people leadership, excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, from executives to team members and fellows.
  • Strong team management with demonstrated ability to lead, manage, mentor, and coach people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strategic, forward thinking, creative, highly analytical and can anticipate trends
  • Expert knowledge of social media ad platforms and organic algorithm biases (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, etc.

  • Proficiency in Google Analytics and working knowledge of social media ad manager tools
  • Highly collaborative with ability to influence cross-functional teams, partners, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and motivated by working in a high-growth, fast-paced and iterative environment; ability to flex and move quickly while staying organized.
  • Track record for highly effective content and acquisition strategies without large media budgets
  • Ability to build budgets with justification and validated assumptions to explain impact and ROI
  • Some experience with the following digital tools or similar : Salesforce, W ordPress, Sprout Social, Canva, and Salsa Engage
  • Creative eye toward thumb-stopping content creation
  • Working knowledge of our main collaboration tools; Asana and Google suite is preferred.
  • Experience in Criminal Justice, Congressional office, non-profit or similar environment is preferred.
  • Passionate about REFORM’s work and strong interest in criminal justice reform is required.

Salary range for this position : $145,000 - $185,000

Overview

Under the direction of the Digital Director, the Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for overseeing day to day management and overarching strategy across paid and organic digital channels as well as digital partnerships, and community management.

This is an opportunity to be on the front lines of a fast-growing national movement and manage a strategy that pushes the boundaries of how organizations harness the power of digital media.

The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, understands various social media platform features and best practices, is highly data-driven with the ability to translate digital metrics into actionable insights.

Responsibilities :

Work closely with the marketing and other cross-functional teams in order to devise strategies and programming across all digital channels

  • In collaboration with Director, support the digital strategy and planning for paid and organic social media, email / SMS, website and other digital marketing needs
  • Lead creation of digital campaigns and strategic initiatives, ensuring effectiveness across paid media and user acquisition priorities while driving growth and business impact
  • Utilize data to extract big picture shifts, and make strategic digital marketing recommendations
  • Lead strategic planning of social media calendar including content creation, captions, etc all while centering our mission, goals, and initiatives
  • Manage digital calendars and activations across events, partner activations

Position Overview

The Executive Assistant provides administrative support to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and members of the REFORM Communications Team.

A successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable in a fast-paced environment, has a high degree of discretion, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The successful candidate will enjoy a fast-paced and mission-driven environment and the opportunity to have a breadth of learning about probation and parole reform.

They enjoy working with a wide range of people, take initiative, anticipate needs and work to make sure they are met. This person will bring their experience supporting C-level principals, and will work closely with the entire REFORM Communications team to ensure the team’s and organization’s success.

  • The Executive Assistant’s role is to support the Chief Communications Officer and the Communications Team by maintaining schedule clarity and flow;
  • scheduling one-time and recurring events; booking travel; responding to correspondence and other inquiries as directed; managing logistical aspects of meetings and events;

working with the CCO and members of the team to assess and respond to opportunities; and assist with background research and preparing materials in advance of key meetings and events.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage daily schedule, adjusting appointments and logistics as needed.
  • Assist with background research and preparing materials in advance of key meetings and events.
  • Manage the daily clips distribution within REFORM.
  • Build and manage a collateral depository and own quarterly team review of existing collateral needs and updates.
  • Help to support project management.
  • Communicate across organizational functions and with external stakeholders to timely schedule critical meetings and stakeholder attendance.
  • Confirm calls and meetings with other parties and attend calls and meetings when appropriate and take notes.
  • Prepare meeting rooms and technology in advance, to ensure a smooth internal and external meetings.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for members of the team when needed.
  • Assist with other administrative procedures such as processing expense reimbursements, vendor payments, etc.

2023 Internship Program Overview

REFORM is seeking candidates for our 2023 summer internship program. The ideal candidate is passionate about criminal justice reform, a self-starter, and eager to learn in a team environment.

People who have been directly impacted by or involved with the criminal justice system are encouraged to apply. The internship is an opportunity to grow our interns’ knowledge of the power of storytelling and the fight to reform the justice system.

This is a non-exempt position and students will receive an hourly rate for twenty hours per week, exposure to leaders in this space and company initiatives, and the opportunity to build transferable business skills.

Projects are designed to build knowledge, skills, and professional experience.

Internships will start the week of June 19 (with some limited flexibility to start later depending on individual intern’s academic calendar) and last up to eight weeks.

Interns will work and participate in internship activities from 9 : 00 a.m. to 2 : 00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Optional, unpaid social programming may take place on some Thursday afternoons after 2 : 00pm.

REFORM is seeking up to twenty (20) interns in eight (8) departments (Policy & Law, Research, Communications, Marketing, Memberships & Community Engagement, Digital, Creative and Court Watch to work on eleven (11) projects as described below.

Please specify in your application which project(s) interest you. Note that while some projects are open to students seeking a bachelor / graduate degree at an accredited institution and REFORM will also consider May 2022 graduates, some positions have special requirements.

Project #1 Digital Intern- One position

Location : Washington, DC

The Digital Interns will provide direct support to the Digital Director and team. Digital interns will obtain experience working with a team, project management skills and be able to contribute to our social media strategy in a meaningful way.

The Digital Intern will contribute to the overall mission of REFORM by increasing our social media engagement and content strategy output.

Tasks will include :

  • Weekly analytics tracking and content recommendations
  • Man on the street style content creation
  • Project management support of content creation
  • Comparative analysis as needed
  • Other tasks as identified by the Director

Qualifications

  • Background in marketing, communications, social media or graphic design.
  • Prior experience in social content development
  • Comfortable being on camera and interacting and interviewing others
  • Preferred : Proficient on Google Suite, Asana or other project management tools, graphic design

Project #2 Creative & Design Intern- One position

Location : New York, NY

The Intern will provide direct support to the Creative Director and will be responsible for templating a variety of designed products to support REFORM's mission and create a library of assets (photo, video, etc.

The Intern will contribute to the Marketing Team and overall mission of REFORM by increasing our ability to quickly turn around design projects based on organization needs.

Tasks will include :

  • Creating and testing templates for use in the organization for event invitations, ads, and emails, PowerPoint presentations, Word docs, and Google Suite products
  • Creative asset collection and organization
  • Digital Asset Management system research
  • Project management support for key stakeholders such as events teams
  • Ad hoc creative, asset or merchandise assignments as needed

Qualifications

  • Required : Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and, InDesign
  • Required : Experience with Canva
  • Required : Experience with Microsoft Office (specifically Word and PowerPoint)
  • Required : Strong organization and project management skills
  • Proficient on Google Suite is preferred.

Project #3- Intern, Storytelling- One position

Location : New York, NY

The Intern, Storytelling, will provide direct support to the Managing Director of Marketing. The Intern, Storytelling will be responsible for project management, supporting the acquisition, vetting, filtering, execution and documenting of the process of storytelling that supports REFORM's mission.

The Storytelling intern will contribute to the Marketing team and overall mission of REFORM by increasing our connections with leaders and organizations that share and align with our priorities.

Tasks will include :

  • Project Management of storytelling process at Reform
  • Researching contacts and organizations as needed; outreach support
  • Creating Asana projects for team and follow-up with individual team members to ensure projects stay on time and all deliverables are accounted for in process
  • Set up processes via Salesforce, Salsa Engage, & Asana to ensure smooth cross-departmental collaboration, collection, tagging, filtering & storage of storyteller data, and transparent workflow and deadlines across teams.

Incorporate and leverage other tools as needed.

  • Review vetting checklists and decide whether or not to move forward with content creation, collaborate with team members as needed
  • Serve as primary point on select occasions for storyteller, ensure all needs are met
  • Support any needs of storytelling teams that arise from expense management, merchandise, travel booking through to list management.
  • Other tasks as identified by the Senior Director.

Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong interest in criminal justice reform and storytelling
  • Proficient on Google Suite, Asana and CRM tools such as salesforce
  • Interest in consumer relationship management
  • Ability to work well independently and collaborate as part of a team
  • Prior experience with social media content preferred but not required
