Welder
JOB SUMMARY :
Responsible for making welds that will comply with applicable code(s), and for accurate fabrication of piping configurations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Provide operable welding machine, truck and hand tools.
- Provide sound welds which will pass non-destructive testing (X-ray) standards of applicable welding code(s).
- Cut pipe segments to proper length and install weld fittings to proper orientation to facilitate accurate fabrication.
- Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor(s) which may not involve
welding / cutting on pipe systems. For example, repairs to machinery,
equipment, or fabrication of structural items.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION :
Knowledge / Skill / Ability
- Ability to accurately fabricate piping configurations.
- Ability to work from spool sheets, isometric drawings, or blueprints.
- Ability to make sound weld elements which will pass X-ray examination per applicable code(s).
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to the work (addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division).
Pass qualification test(s) per customer requirements as well as any applicable Government (State) tests or be in possession of qualification papers that are acceptable to the Customer.
Education / Experience :
- Completion of high school is preferred.
- Some reading is required to work from drawings or spool sheets.
- Should be able to add, subtract, multiply, and / or divide to facilitate accurate dimensioning for
for fabricated assemblies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Walking / balancing and moving about on foot to perform work on rough terrain or physical impediments such as mud, ice, sand,or snow.
Stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, or assuming other body postures to make welds / cuts.
Reaching overhead to make welds.
Talking, expressing and exchanging ideas through verbal
Communication as in communicating with personnel at the job
site where equipment and construction noises are present and talking
at high volume is required.
Either seeing, naturally or corrected, so as to observe blueprints, sketches, or other drawings as well as to make sound welds.
Hearing and perceiving the nature, intent and meaning of sounds including instructions, warnings and other verbal communication
at job sites where construction and heavy equipment noise are present.
Physical flexibility to allow changing of work position(s) with no significant passage of time. (20 seconds or less)
Carrying or transporting objects, for example, boxes of welding rods or gas cylinders, usually by holding or controlling the weight with the
hands or arms and / or shoulders.Grasping as in holding or grasping tools, controls, materials and
other objects in performing essential welding functions at the job site.
Lifting or raising objects up to 50 lbs. from a lower to a higher
elevation, including equipment, materials and / or tools at a job site.
Capable of performing heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force up
to 1 / 3 of the time, and / or up to 50 lbs. of force up to 2 / 3 of the time,
and / or up to 20 lbs. of force more than 2 / 3 of the time to move objects.)
Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, scaffolds, or similar
devices, using feet and legs and / or hands or arms, to reach higher
levels of elevation at construction or job sites, often carrying tools
or materials.
Balancing, as in maintaining equilibrium while working from heights
with the welding hood in the down position.
Eye-hand-foot coordination, as in using hand and / or power tools.
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS :
Job involves exposure to weather extremes including heat, cold, wet, wind, or humidity. Also involves exposure to high noise levels.
The work may or may not be performed under shelter from any of the elements of nature. Some of the work will be performed in ditches.
The work involves exposure to arc flash from the welding operation. The job may require working 6 or 7 days per week with 12 hour or longer work days being required.
this type schedule could go on for an extended period of time.

Mechanical Superintendent
Job Overview :
Civil Superintendent : Provides input and technical expertise for civil construction work. Provides technical owner correspondence support.
On-site supervision of Field Engineers and General Foremen to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained and costs are controlled in the construction discipline for the project site.
Schedules labor, materials, tools, equipment and subcontractors within work discipline to effectively utilize all resources;
and works with specifications and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
Supervises and sets direction for all General Foremen, Field Engineers and Foremen on-site to ensure best use of all company resources;
and adherence to all company policies and state and federal regulations. Provides formal coaching feedback to General Foremen, Field Engineers and Foremen as well as regular informal feedback.
- Schedules equipment, materials, tools and subcontractors to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production and minimize costs after becoming familiar with scope of work and site Will collaborate with other projects to appropriately utilize and share resources.
- Trains and implements standardized Work Plans and Work Assists Field Operations Manager in process improvement efforts.
- Acts as an electrical consultant to supervisory and field personnel in the areas of, electrical circuits, power quality, switchgear installations, transmission lines, inter-connect systems, and high voltage collection / distribution systems.
Participates in meetings with Electrical Engineers, Electrical subcontractors, Owner (SME's) and Utility interconnect Supervise all project Electrical subcontractors to ensure effective use of project resources as well as industry processes.
Responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, more particularly for specific Understands and enforces company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and discusses concerns with Site Manager.
Will be responsible within work discipline for the utilization of best safety practices : the management of employee training for work methods, emphasis on special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHA’s, accident injury management, electrical safety hazard, LOTO, arc flash (all as apply).
- Communicates with Site Manager to update him / her on project problem areas and the specific status of the Collaborates with Site Manager, other Trade Superintendents, General Superintendents and other supervision to plan and staff (hiring, promoting, disciplining, terminating) trade employees through the proper utilization of company resources, processes and policies.
- Assist Site Manager in communicating and negotiating with owner regarding major project decisions.
- Display a professional demeanor and act professionally while interacting with internal and external The Superintendent is expected to create a collaborative environment with craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to continually improve the company’s delivery performance.
- Compares actual costs to the job estimate for specific discipline and informs the Site Manager of cost over-runs and the utilization of company resources.
- The Superintendent is accountable for verifying that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the project Quality Plan, and Work Superintendents are responsible for establishing, aligning, and communicating the project specifications and craftsmanship expectations to all craft workers, vendors, subcontractors, and other agents.
Superintendents shall assist in assembling the close-out information needed for various meetings.
- Mentors Field Coordinator / Field Engineers and General Foremen on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
- Understands scope of work per the Identifies potential change orders and informs the Site Manager.
- Familiarize themselves with site conditions.
- May at times act as a project leader in the absence of the Site Manager.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Participate in RFI development and technical accuracy.
- Support economic conditions by hiring locally, attending job fairs, and attending public information meetings.
- Establish and maintain crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
- May at times visit proposed project sites to support Estimating and Business Development.
- Become a project liaison with key community leaders and local land owners.
Basic Qualifications :
- Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- Ability to supervise many employees.
- Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
- Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
- Possess a solid understanding of job costing.
- Relocation to community of project site is required.
- May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of a company contract licensing, or journeyman or master electrician license.
- Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
- Knows and understand the required federal and state codes for the projects.
