Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Powell is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Southeast Houston! Our Manufacturing Engineers are the process owners that design and improve processes and procedures used for the manufacturing of Powell engineered to order products.

This position is required to identify and implement processes that improve the safety, quality, and operating efficiency in a manner that supports the objectives of the Business Unit.

Job Description

Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials;

conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment;

conferring with equipment vendors.

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards;

confirming manufacturing processes.

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules;

estimating future requirements.

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. .
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures;

requesting special service.

  • Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering data.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;

establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Requirements

  • BS Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills using Oracle and MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated success with specifying, implementing, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Advanced knowledge using drafting / CAD skills with the ability to create and modify Factory Layouts.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System.
  • Experience with either the Toyota Production System or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Project Management experience, leading multi-disciplined teams.
  • Proven track record of completing process improvements from conception through final implementation and ramp-up.
  • Familiar with statistical test procedures and corrective action techniques.
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical systems aptitude. Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo positioning systems, as well as, and machine controls.
  • Project involvement and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Electrical Assembler

1st and 2nd Shift Openings! Enjoy 3 day weekends on our Four - 10 hours a day Schedule : Monday-Thursday

The Electrical Assembler will perform various duties on power control rooms including bending, running, installing, and terminating electrical conduit.

  • Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents
  • Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production
  • Ensure quality by following standard work / process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality
  • Install, run, and terminate conduit by following standard work / process instructions
  • Bend, run, and install conduit (EMT, Rigid, Wire way, and Cable tray)
  • Install wiring by following standard work / process instructions (NEC Manual)
  • Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Constantly standing
  • Frequently working from a ladder, and climbing up and down ladders.
  • Constantly working overhead
  • Constantly working in cramped quarters
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Job Requirements

Education And Experience

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience
  • Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal

Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Knowledge of air, hand, and power tools
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Basic electrical theory
  • Knowledge of electrical code requirements and wiring practices (NEC Manual)
  • Ability to read drawings or blue prints
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to bend conduit

You should be proficient in :

  • Blueprint Reading
  • Electrical Schematics
