This position is located in Hopewell, PA.

We are seeking a high quality, engaging Part Time Occupational Therapist to be on the front lines, making the difference in the lives of our pediatric residents and their families.

Occupational Therapist position overview :

Occupational Therapy staff members assist with ensuring the health and well-being of residents by providing comprehensive and quality therapy services.

This position is responsible for administering skilled occupational therapy treatments ensuring that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

State specific Occupational Therapy license required.

Responsibilities

Occupational Therapist :

Initiates skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician’s orders; maintains required contact with physician.

Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records and discharge summaries for residents in occupational therapy program.

Confers with other health care staff regarding special needs of residents to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function.

Provides input for the Resident Care Planning meetings and attends during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy.

Maintains statistical records of residents’ treatments.

Assists with in-service training programs upon request.

Records and updates resident’s care plan.

  • Submits requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of residents to Director of Occupational Therapy.
  • Assumes all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy, if applicable, during absences including supervision of COTA’s and Occupational Therapy Aides.

Assumes responsibility for all necessary documentation.

Qualifications

Occupational Therapist :

Graduation from an approved school of occupational therapy required.

State license to practice occupational therapy required.

Two years’ experience in occupational therapy preferred.

Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach.

Ability to direct others necessary.

Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required.

Current, valid CPR / BLS credential

Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required.

Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others required.

Ability to work with geriatric and chronically ill residents, as well as other professionals in a friendly and helpful manner necessary.

Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness of general areas and assigned rooms of residents.

Help move personal belongings of residents and clean and disinfect floor, furniture, bed and bathroom according to accepted procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room.

Follow safety rules, and where applicable, maintain vigilance concerning fire regulations and hazards as stated in procedures.

Practice infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene.

Keep cleaning compounds and hazardous substances stored properly for the protection of residents and staff.

Collect and dispose of trash and other refuse in such a manner that prevents the transmission of disease and does not create a nuisance or fire hazard, nor a breeding place for insects and rodents.

Base wages increase with experience!

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and / or laundry experience preferred
  • Individuals under 18 years of age must be excluded from the usage of dangerous equipment such as : compactors.
