As a Mechanical Engineer at Plantible, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of controlled growth environments for the cultivation of novel aquatic plants that thrive in semi-controlled aquatic growth environments.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create advanced solutions for climate control, nutrient delivery, and other systems that support optimal biomass growth and plant composition.

Additionally, you will play a key role in understanding and developing techno-economic models to drive cost-effective and sustainable solutions.

What you will be working on

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and components for aquatic controlled growth environments and greenhouses, tailored for novel aquatic plant cultivation.
• Identify and execute opportunities for automation and integration within the agricultural supply chain to optimize performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Develop and apply environmental models to optimize performance, efficiency, and sustainability of aquatic plant cultivation systems.
• Develop and apply knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and other relevant modeling skills to analyze and optimize system designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including agronomists, biologists, engineers, and software engineers, to develop fully integrated systems.
• Understand the importance of techno-economic models and contribute to their development to ensure cost-effective and sustainable system designs.
• Perform testing and validation of mechanical designs to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and performance.
• Manage projects and coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and other external partners to meet project timelines and goals.
• Maintain documentation of mechanical designs, including CAD drawings, specifications, and reports
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in agricultural engineering and controlled growth environments
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What you will bring to Plantible

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Civil Engineer and or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on automation, robotics, and ag tech applications
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and integration principles specific to agricultural automation and robotics
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar) and a strong background in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and other relevant modeling skills
• Demonstrated understanding of techno-economic models and their application in system design and optimization
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
• Passion for sustainable agriculture, innovative technology, and the vision of a Musk-inspired future
