Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to the following :

  • Assist with procedures under the supervision of providers.
  • Assist providers in exam rooms.
  • Draw blood.
  • Administer vaccines / injections.
  • Perform hearing and vision screens.
  • Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, head circumference and document all information in patient’s chart.
  • Gives instructions to patients as instructed by providers in both English and Spanish.
  • Ensure the provider has everything they need before entering the exam room for ex. lab or imaging results, copies of consults, proper equipment if a procedure will be performed, etc.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
  • Process telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient / physician / pharmacy calls.
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, sterilization, etc.).
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Skills required are as follows :

  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections / vaccines.
  • Good communication skills and caring towards patients.
  • Willing to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to use discretion while maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.

Job responsibilities listed below include, but are not limited to :

  • Welcomes patients and visitors.
  • Answer phone calls and displays excellent phone etiquette.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by processing them in a timely manner.
  • Checks in patients.
  • Scans and files, new patient paperwork, demographics, school notes, etc.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Medical records.
  • Make copies.
  • Maintains patients accounts by updating information when necessary.
  • Collects payments.
  • Maintains inventory (monthly) of basic office supplies for entire office.
  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Open and sort mail.
  • Deals with patients in a courteous and compassionate manner.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
