Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Medical foreign doctors must have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Medicine from a regionally accredited university or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience with MA Diploma / Certification in healthcare setting preferred

Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintain high quality patient experience and a safe patient environment

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Provides emotional support, care coordination services, connections to important resources, assistance in navigating medical, behavioral health and education systems, and communicates with medical and other support teams for pediatric patients and families or within the scope of the social worker’s practice, may provide counseling to children and families for whom counseling is indicated or during crisis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with Medical Home guidelines and collaboration with healthcare team, provides emotional support, care coordination services, connections to important resources, assistance in navigating medical, behavioral health, and education systems, and communicates with medical and other support teams for pediatric patients and families or guardians.

Follow up with patients and families by telephone, or by scheduled appointments.

Maintains a database and knowledge of current, local resources for children and families experiencing adversity; and provides regular updates for the pediatric staff.

Within the scope of the social worker’s practice, may provide counseling to children and families for whom counseling is indicated or during crisis.

Collaborates with the clinical committee to develop office screening and treatment protocols for children with mental health conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, autism, and learning disabilities.

Collaborates with KPP clinical committee in maintaining and advancing KPP clinical quality.

Tracks metrics and outcomes associated with social services function.

Provides patient education, i.e., internal classes, external classes, or individual training. Supports and follows the most current evidence-based guidelines of practice in providing quality patient care.

Committed to excellence, best practices, compassionate and superior customer service with every patient, family member, guardian, and co-worker.

Acts as a role model, exhibiting professional behavior in all situations.

Provides consulting services and referrals to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and clinical staff.

Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for assisting the Practice Manager in overseeing daily clinical operations for small to medium sized offices of less than clinicians and less than 6 Medical Assistants.

Ensures Medical Assistants perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of clinicians for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment.

Supports clinicians and care management teams in the maintenance of chronic disease management, examination and treatment of pediatric patient population.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports practice manager and PA management in the training, development and competency evaluation of the Medical Assistant staff, the monitoring of patient visit time and experience, office, staff compliance to organization’s infection prevention program, medication management, vaccine cold chain handling and storage, and ensure appropriate stock levels of clinical supplies.
  • May assume all clinical administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Practice Manager.

  • Prepares patient for clinician examination, ensure clinician orders performed and accurately documented. Performs with clinician supervision and assist clinicians in necessary age-appropriate vision, hearing screenings, electrocardiograms with repeat as needed, suture removal, ear lavages, urine cauterization, ear piercing, wound care, specialty procedures and emergency response with proper clinician supervision.
  • Performs and documents vaccine and medication reconciliation with patient and state registry; provides written vaccine information statements, education of patients / parents prior to vaccine and medication administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

PRIMARY FUNCTION : Serves patients and visitors by greeting in a friendly and welcoming manner as they arrive to our offices.

Completes and updates all required information, collects payments, and provides other information as requested. Discharges patients after their appointment, providing them with any pertinent information as well as follow up appointments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB : (This list may not include all of the duties that may be assigned.)

  • Check-in patients upon arrival which includes updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collect co-pays and patient balances, and provide consents for signature as well as appropriate health questionnaires.
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summary, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and follow-up appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance through Batch Eligibility or on demand. Contact patients whose insurance is not active or PCP is not appropriate.
  • Post patient charges and payments. Complete charge and payment reconciliation.
  • Scan and upload documents in Document Management system.
  • Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received through courier. Maintain clean work area and patient waiting area.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS :

Adhere to all organizational information security policies and protect all sensitive information including but not limited to ePHI and PHI in accordance with organizational policy, Federal, State, and local regulations.

  • 15%-20% of travel to other office locations as needed with reimbursement outlined per company policy

EDUCATION : High School Diploma or equivalent required.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION :

Upon hire, and for the duration of the employment period driver’s license must be active and valid.*

EXPERIENCE : Prefer one year work experience in a medical office setting. Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

  • Ability to learn & practice Pediatric Associate procedures, policies and protocols.
  • Requires proficient grammar, spelling and verbal skills to communicate with patient, providers and staff in written documents.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Interact effectively, supportively with staff & maintain a professional working relation.
  • Provide excellent customer service; greet & receive patients / visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain professional and excellent phone skills & etiquette, must be able to speak clearly and concise.
  • Use good judgment & maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to file alpha and numerically.
  • Requires experience in using a computer system, scanner, printer, fax etc.
