Overview
The purpose of this position is to supervise, schedule, and develop EVS staff to meet the needs of patients, visitors, and staff.
Function / Duties of Position
This position is responsible for providing direct supervision over EVS Technicians, assigning work, developing staff schedules, addressing patient and visitor requests, ensuring the completion of work to the standard, and ensuring excellence in maintaining a clean, safe, orderly and attractive patient care environment.
In addition, this position is charged with upholding the mission of the department and organization through continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of lead or supervisory experience; or
- 2 years of lead or supervisory experience with an Associate’s degree
- 1 year of lead or supervisory experience with a Bachelor’s degree
- Customer service focus.
- Proficient skills in English language : reading, writing, verbal.
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and follow through all assigned tasks.
- Ability to self-manage.
- Computer skills : Word, Excel, Outlook, ability to learn and operate various software programs.

Social worker
Overview
The Relief Medical Social Worker is part of a team that primarily covers various open shifts across the Care Management Social Work team.
The hours can be variable, with some occasional full-time coverage needed such as for a leave of absence. Shifts needing coverage can be during the day, evenings or weekends or overnight.
Relief workers are often asked to fill in at short notice for sick call outs or unexpected absences.
The efforts are directed at assisting in the patient / family adjustment to illness, injury or disability and secondary adjustment to hospitalization or other treatment, and readjustment to the community.
The Department has corresponding teaching and research functions related to health and healthcare delivery practices. The Medical Social Worker provides direct intervention on an as-needed basis with infants, children, adolescents, adults and elderly patients and / or families.

May provide social work services to patients in Adult units, Peds unit and / or ED.
Function / Duties of Position
- 1. Conducts psychosocial evaluations of patients / families and significant others including, but not limited to the following : adjustment to medical or health condition;
- care coordination; mental health status; adjustment / compliance to treatment process; substance usage; child and elder abuse / neglect assessments;
domestic violence issues; cognitive status (including potential guardian issues); and patient / family resources.
2. Provides crisis intervention and supportive short term counseling to patients / families and significant others as necessary to meet immediate psycho-social needs including, but not limited to : Trauma / Emergency Department / On Call / Family Notification, CODE Response (family intervention);
unanticipated change in health conditions / suicidal ideation; teenage pregnancy; single parent pregnancy / parenthood, domestic violence, child and elder abuse / neglect.
- 3. Provides grief / loss counseling and education regarding : fetal demise; actual / pending death of patient / / family member;
- complicated pregnancies; postpartum depression; chronic / acute stress associated with life circumstances; divorce / separation;
loss of independence associated with illness or disability.
4. Provides brief psychotherapy including : individual short term psychotherapy; group work including information / support groups, family support, patient therapy);
regarding but not limited to issues of adoption, abortion , domestic violence, family of origin, sexual / gender, substance abuse, parenting, relationship adjustment to disabilities and chronic or acute illness.
5. Provides patient advocacy and associated services to patient / family and other involved agencies / parties regarding decision-making;
advance directives; ethics consultations; court holds; guardianship / conservatorship; citizenship cases; and social cultural factors.
6. Assess patient / family support needs regarding : transportation, housing, clothing and educational / patient vocational rehabilitation and training materials and refer to appropriate resources.
7. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities an efficIent manner per departmental policies.
8. Participates in Department of Care Management and assigned service meetings, in services and conferences, as indicated including Complex Patient Interdisciplinary Rounds.
9. Provides support to patient care staff following traumatic events through individual or group consultation.
10. Reviews literature on pertinent patient care / Social Work service issues and conducts in services regarding psycho social patient care issues and Social Work services.
11. Meets in regularly scheduled supervisory sessions.
12. Yearly competencies as identified by department.

Research data analyst
Overview
The OHSU Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) Bone Marrow Transplant Registry directly supports the OHSU Bone Marrow Transplant clinical program by meeting data reporting obligations to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Research (CIBMTR) as part of the Stem Cell Therapeutic Outcomes Database (SCTOD), and to the Northwest Marrow Transplant Program (NWMTP).

Key Responsibilities
1. Always promotes the mission of the Knight Cancer Institute through our Professional Standards of Customer Service, Reliability, Productivity, Professionalism, Accuracy, Timeliness, and Problem-Solving.
2. Data Abstraction and Forms Completion
This position will include understanding the basic knowledge of transplant, disease testing and transplant outcomes as well as an increasing functional knowledge of at least 3 major core diseases.
Completed forms will be in training audit by more senior staff. The need for training audit will decrease with increasing competency, accuracy and rate in forms completionMedical chart review and abstraction of data : CHM is a Research Center as designated by the CIBMTR as part of SCTOD (Stem Cell Therapeutics Outcomes Database).
In order to fulfill the responsibilities of the CIBMTR, FACT, NMDP and NWMTP, registry coordinators will review and abstract data from the medical record primarily in the following subject areas for autologous, related and unrelated transplant patients : diagnosis and medical history, transplant and baseline data and post-transplant complications including graft-versus-host disease, relapse of malignancy and organ toxicity and infection.
Understanding of how to identify adequate source documentation in the EMR and referring provider medical records are essential to accurate completion of CIBMTR forms.
This position has some oversight of forms completion by more senior staff while learning how to how address routine issues and inconsistencies between the medical record, source and data required for forms completion.
Data entry reported on the CIBMTR forms will be required for CIBMTR’s database and for the transplant internal database.This position will work with the registry manager as well as other members of the registry team to collectively meet CIBMTR and NWMTP deadlines each month
3. Data Reporting
The NWMTP reporting is based on the data provided and reported to CIBMTR. This position will be involved in contributing to the many data reports required by the NWMTP committee and will assist the Team Lead or other designee of the registry team to provide the data required per NWMTP each month.
Data reports include but are not limited to internal audits of forms and database, SAE review, Mortality reports, clinical indicators etc )
4. Participate in meetings, setting meeting agendas and leading weekly huddles or team meetings
5. Contribute to process improvement efforts as defined by the Team Lead and / or Manager. Support the senior team members and Manager in administrative Registry or Program related tasks
6. Contribute / Lead Quality Improvement projects set forth by the Manager, Clinical Data Quality

Medical social worker
Overview
Clinical Transplant Services provides care coordination and services to patients in need of or who have received kidney, pancreas, liver, and / or heart transplants.
The Medical Social Worker is expected to practice in accordance with performance standards, core values and with a commitment to service excellence.
Function / Duties of Position
1. Psychosocial Assessment. Engages in case finding and conducts interviews with
patients, patients' families, and other appropriate resources to gather information
necessary in identifying / evaluating the psychosocial, cultural, and financial
conditions of patients referred by agency staff, community professionals, families or
other sources; prepares assessments regarding patient functioning capacity (including
behavior, coping abilities, and attitude toward illness, injury disability, or
hospitalization) and support systems available for treatment planning; provides in
depth consultation to community professionals, agency staff, or other persons seeking
guidance in meeting patient needs; may complete daily rounds and conduct chart
reviews to determine patient needs or problems on assigned unit; may participate in
treatment team meetings with various health care staff, to provide psychosocial
assessments which are used in establishing treatment goals or in discharge planning.
2. Patient Services . Refers patient / family to outside resources for assistance (such as
financial, vocational, schools, transportation, insurance, housing, medicine) and
assists family in gaining access to resources; may develop discharge plans
emphasizing continuity of care, appropriate placement and maximum use of
appropriate resources; serves as advocate for the patient within the medical setting
and the community; maintains knowledge of community resources for patient care;
may interact with Medical Social Service Specialists to insure delivery of specific
patient-care services.
3. Counseling. Provides short- and long-term counseling to patients and / or their
families; provides supportive counseling to reinforce patients' strengths and assist
them in dealing with the stress and feelings of grief, fear, and anger associated with
serious illness, injury, hospitalization, or disability; counsels patients to assist them in
decisions regarding treatment options or decisions on pregnancy-related issues, such
as adoption or abortion; conducts group sessions to provide information to patients
and their families on treatment methods and what to anticipate on a social, emotional,
or physical level from the treatment; may provide psychotherapy to patients and their
families such as individual therapy, group therapy, and marital / family therapy; may
participate in emergency or on-call situations by providing crisis intervention services
to patients and / or their families.
4. Training. Assists in the supervision and evaluation of graduate level social work
interns; may assist in training medical residents and other agency staff regarding
department activities, programs, services, and social work practices, including the
field of medical social work; attends patient care conferences and actively contributes
to case reviews; provides in-services to department, unit, or community professionals
regarding areas of expertise.
5. Departmental Functions. Contributes to the development and evaluation of new
programs to meet identified patient needs; provides community education programs
to pertinent social concerns; assumes active role in meetings and supervisory
conferences for the purpose of information exchange, education, and enhanced patient
care.
6. Documentation. Prepares psychosocial assessments, histories, and treatment
recommendations for patients' hospital charts and department records; maintains
written record of all social work involvement with patient; prepares accurate and
timely statistics on assigned cases.
7. Miscellaneous. Attends conferences and seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge
of social work practices and principles.
