Departmental Overview
NRHS is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the float pool. New Float Pool Healers will be trained in both clinical and clerical duties, and be capable of functioning as a Clerk at the Check In / Out area of the clinic as well as helping in a clinical role as well.
The specialty clinic float pool team supports the NRHS Specialty Clinic Network which consists of 12 to 13 different clinics representing various specialties.
As a float pool healer, you will step into a clinic as needed and ensure that patients are roomed, vitals are taken, charts are completed, and that all patients have an excellent experience in NRHS specialty clinics.
This position represents a great opportunity to learn how providers in many different clinics care for their specific patient population.
Job Summary
- Provides care to patients of all ages and assistance to physicians in the Norman Regional Clinics.
- Answering phones, greeting patients and visitors, scheduling patient appointments, verifying demographics and insurance information, collecting copays and ROAs, reconciling end of the day collection, reconciling petty cash, managing patient medical records, as well as general filing and clerical duties.
- Performs other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Rooming patients, documentation in the Electronic Medical Record system, vitals signs, assisting with day to day patient care modalities and other duties as assigned.
- Flexibility and adaptability are crucial for this role, as well as the ability to pay close attention to detail and multi-task.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, and transition duties as needed during clinic days.
- Excellent and Effective customer service is a must, communication, and ability to follow through with all tasks assigned with accuracy and efficiency are essential for this role.
- Supports excellent patient care and clinic flow.
- Flexibility in day to day duties, and capable of working a somewhat standard schedule week to week.
- Responsibility and accountability to adhere to attendance and time expectations without waiver.
- Pleasantly greets patients and visitors to the office and provides assistance.
- Represents NRHS and the clinic in a positive and helpful manner in person at all times.
- Answers phone, accurately schedules appointments, and relays messages to the appropriate person.
- Checks message for completeness, accuracy and spelling errors prior to sending.
- Always verifies the name and phone number of the caller.
- Demonstrates ability to answer multiple phone calls while communicating in a professional manner with physician offices, patients, and co-workers.
- Identifies self and the clinic when communicating with the caller and represents NRHS in a pleasant and helpful manner at all times.
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
- Appropriately completes referrals in a timely manner and obtains authorization for referrals when necessary.
- Supports patient satisfaction with a friendly, "can do" attitude.
- Manages documents appropriately
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant Training or equivalent experience required.
Experience
- Prefer at least one year experience in a clinical or physician-office setting, emergency room and / or a hospital setting that provides patient care.
- Experience in office clerical activities desirable.
Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience).
Licensure / Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained for duration of employment.
- CMA or RMA preferred.
Compensation / Benefits
- $13.74-$22.44 / hr depending on previous work experience.
