Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking candidates for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor positions in the Manhattan District Office.

This office assists persons with disabilities to attain employment, educational, and / or independent living goals. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Manage a caseload, including writing case notes and maintaining supporting documentation;
  • Determine eligibility;
  • Develop employment goals and Individualized Plans for Employment;
  • Purchase goods and services as needed for individuals to reach their employment goals;
  • Coordinate the resources of the family, community, and specialists; and
  • Determine case closure.
