IT maintains the Office's technology and data infrastructure and builds applications to support all the Offices' technology needs.

In this position the Counselor will provide a full range of services to victims of crime who are men of color.

These services may include short term counseling, crisis intervention, community referrals, orientation to the criminal justice system, case status updates, community outreach, best practice development, and case support.

Services will be provided in all office locations, including the main Office downtown, the Harlem Office, and / or the Washington Heights Office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Direct engagement with men of color victims, witnesses, and their families including explaining the criminal justice system, connecting them with services, conducting outreach and follow up calls;

maintaining on-going contact to ensure they are receiving support and services.

  • Conduct counseling / therapy sessions in either individual and / or group setting as well as mental health evaluation and concrete needs assessments.
  • Provide crisis intervention, assist with emergency safety planning, and manage a caseload.
  • Engage in case reviews with Supervisors and coordinate with WASU advocates on cases involving men of color.
  • Develop and facilitate male-identified victim / witness of crime support groups.
  • Act as liaison with victims and the assigned assistant district attorney throughout the criminal justice process.
  • Assist with orders of protection, supporting depositions, and registration for notification of inmate release.
  • Develop best practices and guidance materials for DANY on engaging men of color.

  • Adjusting schedules and targets on the project change.
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Keep abreast of new tools, trends, and best practices in project management.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned. Qualifications :
  • At least three (3) years of project management experience overseeing technical product development.
  • Experience facilitating communication between technical experts and non-technical end users.
  • Proven experience in project management and project delivery.
  • Interest in public policy and a desire to tackle complex issues, including public safety, justice, and equity.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in teams and collaborating on projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, highly-organized, resourceful, and reliable. Preferred Qualifications :
  • 3 - 5 years proven Information Technology project management experience. Educational Requirements :
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree and / or master's degree strongly preferred (ideally in computer science, engineering, or related field of study). Additional Requirements :
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Commitment :
