Develops and manages projects to help achieve the mission and goals of the department. Serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies.

Leads and guides administrative support staff, may independently administer a defined program initiative or service operation for the unit.

Oversees the planning of meetings and events .

This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement upon completion of probationary period. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to faculty and students.
  • Prepares travel requests, vouchers.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions, check requests and other financial documents.
  • Monitors and manages departmental budgets and serves as liaison to finance department

  • Screens and directs telephone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries.

Position Information Hr. Position Bus Driver Full Time / Part Time Part Time Job Type On-Call Position Summary Provide transportation services for university employees, students, visitors, and faculty while ensuring transportation services and passenger safety.

Monitors equipment and performs limited maintenance. This is an On-Call position and working hours are variable up to and can occasionally exceed 40 hours in one week. Duties and Responsibilities

Position Information Position Operations and Logistics Technician Full Time / Part Time Part Time Job Type Term Appointment Position Summary The Forest & Watershed Restoration Institute at New Mexico Highlands University seeks a part-time, skilled Operations & Logistics Technician to assist with various field- and office-based tasks.

  • Primary responsibilities will include assisting with logistics at post-fire restoration workshops; inventorying, maintaining, and coordinating use of various tools and equipment;
  • and providing training for staff in outdoor safety, first aid and safe use of equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in field-based ecological restoration including post-fire restoration, forest operations, monitoring, or other backcountry work;

the ability to provide safety instruction to diverse audiences; and experience operating, maintaining and repairing tools and equipment.

This is a temporary / seasonal position that works closely with the FWRI’s field-based programs. We welcome candidates who can work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate condition and maintenance / repair needs of NMFWRI tools and equipment as needed
  • Provide repair and maintenance for NMFWRI tools and equipment (such as diameter tapes, chainsaws, and hand tools) as needed
  • Perform inventory of NMFWRI equipment using WASP AssetCloud and Excel
  • Provide training for staff on safe operation and use of NMFWRI hand tools and equipment
  • Research tools and equipment best suited for various field-based program needs with Program Managers
  • Improve safety of NMFWRI field operations by working with programs to build confidence in NMFWRI safety equipment and protocols, troubleshooting common problems, emergency field repair, and recognizing situations that require outside assistance
  • Produce documentation (such as handouts or videos) for safety and equipment trainings
  • Conduct and participate in training in coordination with NMFWRI staff, partners, and stakeholders
  • Assist in post-fire workshops engage directly with landowners in HPCC burn scar; identify and prepare field sites and locations;

assess sites for suitability for workshops / trainings / service projects; manage logistics for tools needed for hands-on work

  • Establish a system for loaning tools; and a check-in / check-out system
  • Share in the responsibility of maintaining safe, clean and efficient facilities
  • Maintain regular attendance and clear communication with supervisors and colleagues in office, field, and online working environments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors Minimum Job Requirements Education :

  • Wilderness first aid or higher certification

Experience :

  • At least 2 years of experience providing safety training and instruction to a variety of audiences
  • At least 2 years of equipment maintenance and repair experience
  • Experience in safety and equipment needs of remote / backcountry work such as off-road driving, camping, monitoring fieldwork, restoration activities

The Operations and Logistics Technician will work with a staff with expertise in monitoring, geospatial information systems, collaboration, operations, outreach and ecological restoration.

The FWRI is one of three Southwest Ecological Restoration Institutes (SWERI), with partner institutes in Arizona and Colorado, and collaborates in the Forest Restoration Triangle (FORT) with the NMHU Forestry Department, the only SAF-accredited forestry department in New Mexico, and with the New Mexico State University John T. Harrington Lab in Mora, NM.
