Job Description

We are looking to hire a Project Manager / Engineer in Aviation with a minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation and airport infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on Airside Civil Engineering.

The Project Manager / Engineer Aviation primary responsibility will be managing projects and possible multi-disciplinary teams for programs covering a diverse range of services involving airport planning, infrastructure assessment, as well as airside and landside development.

Specific responsibilities will include :

  • Manage external client and stakeholders to complete work on-time and within budget, including interfacing with teams working on other airport programs / projects
  • Lead design teams and undertake design
  • Coordinate design and construction activities with airport stakeholders, consultants, stakeholders, and airlines

Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have the following experience :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in related field, Master of Science a plus
  • Minimum 15 years aviation experience
  • Must be a US Professional Engineer or equivalent UK Chartered Engineer status with the ability to obtain a US Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong civil airfield engineering experience, with military as a plus
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to relate to both technical staff and external clients
  • Working at multiple large and medium hub commercial airports in North America.
  • Ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously
  • Managing consultants, contractors, and program managers
  • Previous experience as project manager or project engineer on multiple projects
  • Experience with planning / scheduling, budgeting, and risk management tools
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and end users a plus

Salary Range : $170,000 - $196,000

Job Description

This position will afford an opportunity to work within a specialized group of professionals in the assessment and development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs for major tunnel and rail transportation projects and related underground or enclosure structures.

The position provides great potential for professional advancement and in-house training.

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to :

  • Designing fire-life safety systems including tunnel ventilation and smoke management systems using engineering calculations, preparing design drawings and specifications under the direction of senior engineers or project managers
  • Leading tasks and supervising junior engineers within larger scale projects
  • Ensuring accuracy of design and contract documents
  • Innovative mechanical design and analysis
  • Computerized fluid flow analysis and modelling

Candidate Specification

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Licensed PE with 5+ years of experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design
  • Proficiency in the use of CAD software; knowledge / proficiency in BIM an advantage
  • Familiarity with fans, controls, and fire life safety codes and standards (NFPA, AMCA, ASHRAE) with emphasis on NFPA 130 and NFPA 502
  • Working knowledge of state building codes in region
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of standard office software
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to lead a team and deliver quality work within project timeframes and budget constraints

Salary Range : $96,000 - $105,000
