MITRE’s USCENTCOM USSOUTHCOM JOINT STAFF OPERATIONS Department (N)
works closely with our DoD Joint Chiefs of Staff sponsor to develop the Joint Forces of the future. We apply extensive technical expertise and deep domain knowledge to solve their priority challenges, while simultaneously leveraging our knowledge of these challenges to focus MITRE’s research and development activities.
We are seeking an energetic candidate to help the sponsor modernize our military through innovative concept development, advanced technology, and new capabilities.
This position will require working closely with military and civilian government experts in the sponsor’s organization to address critical mission needs related to Joint Warfighting Doctrine, Concepts, and Strategy, Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), and cybersecurity.
The selectee will work collaboratively with an integrated, federated MITRE team demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation and assist the on-site MITRE task lead in providing holistic systems engineering and data driven recommendations to the Joint Chiefs of Staff leadership.
This position is in the National Capital Region.
Job Responsibilities :
- Provide systems engineering analysis and data-driven recommendations to DoD Joint Chiefs of Staff to modernize the operational theater C4I infrastructure and enable the United States to effectively partner with allies and deter near-peer adversaries
- Perform systems engineering analysis for requirement development, design and integration trades, end-to-end performance analysis, and to identify risks and mitigation approaches
- Support the DoD’s modernization efforts, including JADC2, NC3, Cybersecurity and the Digital Engineering (DE) strategy
- Coordinate activities with related efforts across Government stakeholders, the sponsor’s industry partners, and other MITRE projects and departments
- Research and develop unique, cutting-edge technical approaches and processes for understanding, assessing, and analyzing system and technology resiliency
- Communicate technical issues, concepts, assessments, and approaches to Government and MITRE leadership
- Acting as a trusted advisor, assist the sponsor in defining and developing technical products that support the Joint Staff’s vision, mission, processes and strategic initiatives
- Develop system security engineering attributes within complex model-based system engineering products in direct support of DoD programs
- Analyze missions and systems for potential attack vectors, loss conditions and unacceptable loss consequences and propose mitigation strategies and approaches
Required Qualifications :
Typically requires a degree in Computational Modeling or Data Analytics or related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience;
or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can contribute immediately at this job step, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Understanding of the DoD’s organization, roles and missions
- Experience with Microsoft family of systems (Outlook, Power Point, Teams, Excel, Word and Access)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a TS / SCI
Preferred Qualifications :
- Degree or minor in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
- Microsoft Certifications in Power Point, Word, Excel and Access
- Experience in computer programming languages (Java, SQL, C)
- Experience supporting DoD sponsors
- Active TS / SCI
