Summary The Medical Assistant assists in the interviews and examinations of patients, measures vital signs and records information on patients' charts, draws and collects blood and urine samples, prepares specimens for laboratory analysis, and conducts a variety of diagnostic tests.

Core Duties

  • Strong patient care skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Assist questions and information during the evaluation
  • Performs diagnostic procedures : 12-lead electrocardiograms, proficient venipuncture, urine drug testing collection and preparation of lab specimens, pulmonary function test (PFTs), arterial flow Doppler studies, and other clinical diagnostics as needed
  • Prepare rooms, ensuring all equipment is clean and presentable
  • If fluent in other languages, translate information to patients and staff

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Perform front office duties as well as maintaining medical records
  • Ensure accuracy data entry, worksheets, and reports.
  • Review each exam report for accuracy before submission to the physician for approval
  • Assists in the retrieval of diagnostic tests for scanning into system
  • Ensure timely and accurate submittal of reports

Requirements

  • Technology-driven medical data entry system experience or related computer data entry
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine clinic, General Medical, Internal Medicine work environment preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • First Aid certification preferred
  • High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
  • Associate degree in Medical Assisting and / or graduation from an accredited vocational Medical Assistant program, and / or military equivalent
  • Must be able to successfully pass National (NACI) background investigation

Daily responsibilities :

  • Administers vaccines and or medication per providers orders.

  • Maintain infection control standards via cleaning and sterilizing according to scheduled maintenance program.

Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience
  • Completed training from an accredited Medical Assistant Program required
  • CPR Certification will be required and maintained
  • Prior phlebotomy training and / or experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus, but not required
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and Saturdays

  • Be liaison with other departments, facilities, and hospital.
  • Review current medication, take vitals , perform designated diagnostic tests,
  • Prepare lab work or specimens, administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications
  • Assist with setting up exam room / procedure rooms appropriate
  • Aid provider in examination / procedure rooms.
  • Manage patient care flow by utilizing systems
  • Convey lab results to patients assists
  • Follow-up scheduling needs
  • Prepare charts as needed

Requirements :

  • 3 years of experience required within a clinical environment.
  • Licensed Vocation Nurse or experienced Certified Medical Assistant
  • Experience in Dermatology, Plastics, Cosmetics, Aesthetics, or Spa is required
  • Must have certification in Phlebotomy and IV Therapy.
  • EMR experience with Ema Modernizing Medicine a plus!
