Job Summary and Qualifications
LAWSON TITLE : Physician Coordinator Relations
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES :
Serves as the primary representative of Austin Heart within the referring physician community in Travis
County. It is possible that this territory could expand in the future to include Hays and Williamson
Counties. Conducts physician office visits, interacting with office staff, practice managers and physicians
on a daily basis to promote positive referral relations. Responsible for coordinating physician-to physician marketing visits.
SUPERVISOR : Market Manager
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
- Promotes positive relationships with referral physicians and offices.
- Enhances an awareness of Austin Heart services to increase utilization.
- Tracks utilization of services and targets office visits to maintain a presence and rapport with
- referring practices to maintain and / or increase patient referrals to the practice.
- Serves as liaison to resolve concerns or complaints.
- Reports on problem areas and provides feedback regarding concerns to Marketing / Education
- Director.
- Interacts with vendors and pharmaceutical representatives to help leverage / facilitate physician
- relations
- Participates in planning, organizing and implementing special events to include obtaining CME
- Promotes goodwill with all aspects of Austin Heart
- May participate in research and analysis of the practice's marketplace, including services offered,
- geographic areas served and competition.
- Tracks marketing activities / competitive information / successes in form of weekly reports.
- Develops and maintain web based marketing tools like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and / or experience required.
Degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations or Communications preferred. A clinical degree is
also acceptable with proven outside sales experience in a service industry.
EXPERIENCE :
Two years of sales experience in a service industry required. Healthcare Marketing experience
preferred.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE :
No license requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Skill in establishing effective working relationships with physicians, office managers, referral
- coordinators, vendors and the business community.
- Capacity to relate to people in a manner to gain confidences and establish rapport.
- Ability to identify and analyze strategic marketing opportunities for cardiology services.
- Ability to effectively communicate and speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to listen and understand problems / concerns, recommend solutions and communicate to
- Practice Managers, or Regional Office Directors.
- Ability to plan and prioritize activities.
- Knowledge of the marketing / sales process.
- Skill in analyzing date and preparing reports (proficiency with Excel and Power Point desirable).

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
- Scheduling and canceling patient appointments
- Checking-in and checking-out patients
- Entering charges and payments
- Answering the telephone
- Verifying patient insurance and demographics
- Collection of co-payments / coinsurance and personal balances 7. Performs selected administrative duties and assists nursing staff.
- May collect patient specimens.
- Takes patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
- Gives injections, and applies casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable.
- Prepares and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization. Assists physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Must read, understand, and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.
Practices certified as Patient Center Medical Home include these additional job duties : Coordinates continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities and referrals from the primary care provider to a specialty care provider.
Participates on a team for data collection, health outcomes reporting, audits and programmatic evaluation related to Patient Centered Medical Home.
EXPERIENCE :
One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE :
- Medical Assistant Certification NCRMA certification / ABR required. Acceptable certifications are RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or OE credentials is acceptable OR
- Medical Assistants who recently graduated (within the last 12 months) from a Medical Assisting training program must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 60 days of employment. OR
- Candidates / incumbents with one year of Medical Assistant work experience who do not possess Medical Assistant Certification must obtain Medical Assistant Certification within one year of hire date.
