Responsibilities
Provides assistance to Mayo Medical Center patients, visitors and staff throughout the Mayo campus and the city of Rochester.
Communicates information accurately in a pleasant and efficient manner to a variety of people, including patients, visitors, medical center staff and other departments.
The information desk attendant functions as a resource to these groups and is familiar with multiple medical center resources including lost and found items.
The information desk attendant carries out all aspects of the job while displaying good judgment and problem solving skills and assumes the responsibility of self-development within the role.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous hospital or clinical experience in a customer related field is preferred.
Must be able to work independently. Requires good communication, telephone and human relation skills to interact with staff, visitors and patients.
Strong problem solving skills are necessary. Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress. Works varied hours which may include days, evenings, days / evenings, holidays, and weekends with rotating days off.
Basic computer skills preferred.

Physician Assistant IV - Cardiothoracic Surgery
DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) classified as Level IV covering operating room, ICU, step down unit, and outpatient clinic.
Operating room responsibilities : first assist in Cardiothoracic surgery cases and transplant.
- Hospital responsibilities : Preoperative admissions, consultations, medical optimization / management, ICU, discharges.
- Outpatient clinic responsibilities : new consults, established patient care, and postoperative follow up visits, and coordination of follow up care with other services.
The Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic also may perform the following tasks in any authorized setting :
- First assist in operating room
- Obtaining patient history
- Performing physical examinations
- Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Making appropriate referrals
- Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
- Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
- Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
- Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
- Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed
