The Data Scientist will work with the Quality Director to provide technical process support for production and engineering teams. This position shall :

  • Support plants with statistical methods (e.g. SPC, DOE, capability studies) and execution of improvement projects
  • Own, manage, and execute division wide data science initiatives
  • Gather and identify data science possibilities / initiatives / requests in collaboration with Quality, IT, and Engineering

This position requires willingness to travel up to 30% and is based in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities :

  • Drives execution and implementation of data science roadmap
  • Owns, manages and drives local data science initiatives according to prioritization (e.g. Quality, Yield, and OEE improvement, downtime analysis) this includes managing the cross-functional interdependencies
  • Manages and drives process monitoring and process improvement (e.g. descriptive statistics and visualization, statistical process control, out-of-the-box-tools)
  • Provides necessary training to corporate and plant teams

Job Requirements

  • University degree of science / business
  • Advanced degree required (Masters, MBA, or PhD) in highly quantitative field, e.g. in Engineering, Mathematics, IT, Economics or Physics with focus on Control Theory / Statistics / Mechatronics, Information / Operation Management / Strategy / Economics, Technology or Innovation Management
  • 2+ years work experience in data analysis related position or equivalent academic experience
  • Hands-on experience in applying and executing Artificial Intelligence / Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Big Data and Digital with respective programming knowledge
  • Ability to translate business needs into data analytics concepts and vice versa
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence / Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Big Data and Digital
  • Respective programming knowledge in Python / R / C is required - further programming experience is advantageous
  • Proficiency in database languages (SQL), understanding of data models and databases
  • Compositional data analysis and analyzing time series data
  • Distributed computing, stochastic modeling, sampling methods and randomized algorithms
  • Project management skills

Job Description

As our Electrician at Mauser Packaging Solutions, you keep our line equipment running smoothly so we can deliver quality products to our customers on time.

During morning shifts, your main job is to address any electrical issues on the line as they crop up. You must be quick on your feet to get to the line, troubleshoot the issue, and repair it as quickly as possible, ensuring minimal downtime and complete safety at all times.

During afternoon shifts, you will do preventative maintenance, repairs, and updates that cannot be done while the line is running.

To thrive in this role, you must have a valid 309A or 442A electrician certificate, an impeccable safety record, and you must be reliable and show initiative.

You show up every day eager to dive in and address issues you see, without being told. You are responsible for keeping the line moving safely and you take a lot of pride in that.

Here’s what you can expect on a typical day as an Electrician on our team at Mauser Packaging Solutions :

  • Safety is our number one priority. You’ll learn our plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training including lockout / tagout, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
  • We take pride in our output and you take pride in ensuring our equipment is running smoothly and safely.
  • High-Speed, Loud Environment. We produce approximately 10 steel drums each minute. It’s fast and can be loud. Some areas of the plant get very warm in the summer.
  • Hard work. Each day you’ll be bending, lifting, stooping, and the like to repair equipment. You will replace sensors, contacts, or other defective parts.

You’ll work with PLC equipment, multiple small tools, and high-voltage equipment. You are responsible for keeping your equipment in safe, usable condition and your area safe and tidy at all times.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of proven work experience as an Electrician
  • Certified electrician preferred
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and mechanical systems involving electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair or replacement, including blown fuses and tripped breakers.
  • Knowledge of PLC Logic, and ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Understand electrical panel and drive components.
  • Understand gear trains, shafts / journals, pulleys, and bearings.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to draw a 3 phase motor control Circuit
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to work Nights / Weekends

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb / repetitive tasks throughout the day
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

The Manufacturing Engineer position is accountable for the planning, development, design, and coordination of manufacturing improvements in assigned Small Packaging Metal facilities.

Specific accountabilities include : evaluate manufacturing processes to improve product quality, process efficiencies and machine reliability;

improve work flow; validate improvements implemented; preparation of manufacturing process documentation; conduct failure analyses.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage activities of cost reduction projects write AFE update reports.
  • Monitor and improve machine process, develop work instructions and train employees.
  • Improve OEE across the plant by using down time tracking tools and creating pareto charts of downtime events.
  • Experience with IIOT or Industry 4.0 to collect data with the latest technology of integrated downtime tracking tools.
  • Participate in implementing safety improvements.
  • Evaluates and improves manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
  • Assist in determining root cause and provide corrective action with customer product complaints.
  • Participate in projects that support in reducing downtime and scrap.
  • Organize, plan and commission new or modified production lines.
  • Investigate operational problems affecting production in a systematic and methodical manner.
  • Validate implemented manufacturing process improvements to ensure desired results and sustainability.
  • Develop appropriate manufacturing process documentation for integration into the company’s quality system.
  • Provide training to operators, supervisors, managers on new or modified processes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline; preferably manufacturing, mechanical or industrial.
  • Recent Engineering grad to 2 years’ experience in Engineering, Manufacturing functions.
  • Working knowledge of high volume manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality improvement methods. Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Desired attainment of nationally recognized certification in manufacturing engineering, such as AME or SME.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work alone, or in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

SAP & Data Analysis (such as Minitab) experience a plus.
