Environmental Scientist
Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an environmental scientist with 3-5 years of experience to assist in planning and implementing site remediation programs.
Take responsible charge for collecting field data and environmental media samples, interpreting data and preparing technical reports.
Work with a team of environmental professionals including LSRP, professional engineers, professional geologist or asbestos inspector.
We are looking for an employee to work out of either our Trevose, Conshohocken, Exton or Philadelphia, PA office or our Mt.
Laurel, NJ office. This role is flexible with a hybrid schedule.
The position will involve conducting environmental due diligence, environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation oversight and technical report preparation.
Daily activities may include site reconnaissance, oversight of soil boring and monitoring wells installations using a drill rig, collection of soil and groundwater samples, laboratory data management, and report preparation.
This position is expected to have a 40% - 60% balance between field and office work which will vary based on project needs.
The ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in geologist, earth science, environmental science, or environmental engineering.
Responsibilities
- Conducting investigations related to site remediation particularly in NJ, NY, PA, DE and MD - but not limited to only these states
- Interpreting regulations and guidance documents
- Supervising and documenting field studies
- Collecting and managing environmental samples
- Interpreting and compilation of field and laboratory data
- Coordination and oversight of subcontractors
- Interacting with state and federal regulators
- Calibrating, operating and maintaining field equipment
- Conducting aquifer testing
- Preparing reports, maps, and annotated findings using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD and ArcGIS
- Working in various terrains and environments throughout the year
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of environmental consulting experience
- BS in Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Science or Environmental / Civil Engineering
- Geologist-In-Training Certification, a plus
- OSHA 40 HAZWOPER training with annual 8-hour refreshers
- OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER Supervisor training
- Familiarity with NJ, NY and PA site remediation regulations, guidance documents and forms
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD and ArcGIS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter and team player
- Moderate travel (typically 1 to 2 hours per day)
- Occasional long-distance travel and overnight stays

Traffic Operator
Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated and qualified traffic operator to join our growing team that has a large backlog full of exciting design and traffic operations projects on some of the most iconic transportation facilities in the country.
The selected candidate will have the unique opportunity to serve as a traffic operator at an on-site Transportation Management Center (TMC) for one of the region’s premier aviation facilities, with the ability to observe and track real-time traffic conditions to aid in coordinating active transportation management solutions to keep the landside roadway networking moving and enhance the customer experience.
Position offers unique ability to work collaboratively in a dynamically changing landscape with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, first responders and law enforcement, and other partner agencies creating an invigorating career opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, detect, document, mitigate, and regularly disseminate information about traffic conditions to effectively maintain the transportation system through a host of events, both planned and unplanned.
- Interface with ITS devices such as Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) / Variable Message Signs (VMS), Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras, and traffic signal systems.
- Gather information from multiple sources, dashboards, and data analytics tools to make informed decisions and evaluate cause / effect relationship of actions taken.
Qualifications
- 0-5 years of Traffic Engineering / Traffic Operations-related experience.
- BS in Civil Engineering is a plus.
- Knowledge of Traffic Engineering / Traffic Operations principles and regional transportation system / stakeholders.
- Familiarity with the MUTCD and other transportation publications.
- Understanding of aviation terminology and passenger and vehicular activity characteristics is a plus.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Contribute equally to off-hour shifts or remote on-call support when needed in times of high volume, inclement weather, etc.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products (including Office 365).
- Ability to perform tasks effectively under pressure.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to thrive in a team setting and act with professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Willingness to work on-site, in-person as part of TMC team with schedule flexibility including the ability to work weekends and holidays when required.
- Valid driver’s license.
