POSITION : Public Relations Coordinator

Part time : 29 hours per week

Position Summary :

To work, in tandem with the rest of the Public Relations staff, as a liaison between the LAPA and the media in order to promote the Los Angeles Philharmonic and all Association events and activities.

These include the LA Phil’s Winter season at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Summer seasons at the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford, the Beckmen YOLA Center, special series and concerts, run outs, tours and internal initiatives.

To support the members of the department as requested.

Position Elements :

Monitoring all media coverage, including online and physical publications, preparation and filing of press clippings for circulation and archival storage.

Preparation of special press clipping books for various projects and Board Meetings as required. Maintaining periodicals.

Manage the internal SharePoint document system and Clark photo management system on behalf of the department.

  • General office duties including maintaining files and records, coding for all PR invoices, to be signed by Director of Public Relations
  • Attend weekly departmental staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Internal liaison with artist representatives as needed to maintain artist information files including but not limited to procuring biographies and photographs.
  • Research and gather information for first drafts of press releases, media alerts, biographical information and other written material as assigned.
  • Update the Press Section of the Association’s three websites.
  • Arrange and coordinate photo and video shoots for all LAPA venues including requests from outside parties, as assigned.
  • Attend concerts and handle photo duty as LAPA representative for all LAPA venues as assigned.
  • Build and facilitate relationships with the media and outside contacts, interfacing with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Manage event logistics for galas, press conferences, press receptions, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl, The Ford and Beckmen YOLA Center events and miscellaneous events as needed.
  • Accommodate ticket requests, venue parking for the media and confirmations.
  • This role may have the opportunity to manage their own press campaigns under supervision, depending on the experience and interest and when it does would require planning, pitching and placing stories in local and national print, broadcast and electronic media outlets (and international where appropriate).
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive institutional information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Position Requirements :

  • General music knowledge required and a desire to work with musicians.
  • A minimum of two years previous agency, arts organization or equivalent experience preferred.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience a plus
  • Must have extensive computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and database systems such as Constant Contact
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with teams in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
  • Must multi-task and work within deadlines
  • Creative, innovative thinker with an excellent sense of local and national media.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work some nights and weekends.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple locations.

The LA Phil is hiring a creative copywriter, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications. This individual will be central to our Editorial team, producing sharp prose that represents the world-renowned LA Phil to the public.

Including the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra season, the LA Phil presents more than 350 concerts a year at three iconic venues : Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford.

In addition, the LA Phil commissions new work, programs a jazz series and creates innovative thematic festivals.

Our creative copywriters must be versatile stylists who are passionate about music, culture, and the arts. They must be equally adept with short-form marketing content (advertisements, brochure copy, social media) and sophisticated communications (fundraising material, speeches, or executive presentations).

Position Elements :

  • Write original marketing copy for web, print, email, radio, TV, and social media that will achieve our campaign goals for the orchestra season, as well as concerts presented by LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford.
  • Contribute ideas to a cross-functional team to discover the concepts and stories that will power the LA Phil’s communication strategy and marketing year to year.
  • Distill large amounts of information into clear, concise, and creative messaging.
  • Revise, repurpose and edit materials as needed for advertising, social, and web.
  • Produce copy that adheres to LA Phil style and reflects our brand voice.

Position Summary :

The Production Assistant, reporting to the VP of Presentations, assists in all facets of concert / show advancing and backstage artist operations for concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and The Ford from approximately May 1 October 30, and provides a broad range of support to the Presentations department.

Up to 5 positions available. Coverage of all Presentations concerts at multiple venues to be split between the production assistants, exact assignments to be determined.

This is a non-regular full-time position, within May 1 October 30. Individual start dates to be determined upon hiring.

Position Elements :

  • Advances concert hospitality elements with tour managers as assigned.
  • Provide production assistance as required for concerts and events, including extensive hospitality and catering / dressing room needs / setup for artists per the contract riders;

tickets and parking pass requests; complex artist ground transportation schedule, hotel arrangements; and extensive runner responsibilities.

  • Assist office with ticketing and parking requests from artists, agents, managers, vendors and outside parties needing special handling.

Position Summary :

The Bus Dispatcher, reporting to the Transit Manager, manages all Park & Ride / Shuttle related operational needs and services for each Park & Ride lot and / or Shuttle lot.

Position Elements :

  • Manage assigned location. Duties include but are not limited to coordinating with security staff, and placing cones and barricades to reserve spaces for both patron vehicles and buses
  • Act as the Bowl liaison to bus operators at your Park & Ride / Shuttle location
  • Maintain ridership information for each departure and relay to supervisor in timely fashion
  • Interface with bus riders, making sure that all have been properly briefed about pertinent information regarding return trip, etc.
  • Remain at assigned Park & Ride lot for return trips from the Bowl
