POSITION DESCRIPTION :

Under the direction of the National Medical Director, physician supervisors and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) of U.

S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), contracted physician assistants deliver healthcare services to persons in custody in accordance with the polices and protocols listed in the Statement of Work (SOW) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directives for the delivery of healthcare services to persons in custody.

Physician assistants share the administrative functions that directly impact medical services and collaborates with the management team in overall planning and execution of program directives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs under the administrative direction of a Physician, the Physician Supervisor, Pediatric Advisor or in their absence the Deputy National Medical Director.
  • Work in alongside uniformed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents / Officers in secured federal facilities along the southwest border of the United States
  • Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody.
  • Provides first aid, emergency medical services, health examinations, or nursing services to employees.
  • Interacts with injury management, workers compensation, and outside compensation providers.
  • Gives information to employees in health education and illness prevention.
  • Prepares, maintains, records, accident reports, and statistical data associated with incidents, health history, and injuries occurring at worksite.
  • Maintains inventory of EMS equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Assists in performing drug and alcohol testing at worksite, overseeing other health issues such as drinking water, food preparations, and safety of living areas.
  • Under broad direction, performs duties by following established procedures.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined procedures and current regulations in selecting methods and techniques for treatment.
  • Has a knowledge of techniques used in this QHSE specialization.
  • Applies knowledge to work scope and is accountable for less experienced workers in the medical field.
  • Completes all annual training as directed.
  • Duties will be performed on-site at medical units, which may rotate within a specific region or sector.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a licensed Physician’s Assistant in direct patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.

Must be accredited by the Accreditation Review

Commission on Education for Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessors. The degree issuing institution and / or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.

S. Department of Education.

  • Experience in detention / correctional healthcare, ambulatory care, or a pediatric setting encouraged, but not required.
  • Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with patients and co-workers during which instructional and educational information is presented or shared.
  • Basic safety, infection control, quality assurance, records management, statistical information gathering, etc.
  • Skill in collecting a variety of laboratory samples.
  • Experience in detention / correctional or pediatric setting encouraged, but not required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish encouraged, but not required.
  • Able to walk, stand, bend, or sit for extended periods.
  • Able to reach to retrieve documents or supplies.
  • Able to carry materials and / or file boxes up to 30 pounds on an infrequent basis or assist patients into / out of a wheelchair.
  • Must be capable of standing on hard surfaces (cement floors) for long periods of time.
  • Must perform these duties in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitation.
  • Must be able to respond to a medical emergency and perform BLS / CPR as needed.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION :

Candidates must have an unrestricted, current license as a Physician Assistant valid in the location in which the duty will be performed / located.

Licensure must be maintained current, and any education and training must be completed within the required timeline for completion by the licensing / certifying authority.

Any license changes must immediately be reported to the employer. A temporary license will not be accepted.

Board Certification as a Physician Assistant by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) is preferred.

Certification must be maintained if required as part of licensure for the state licensing authority.

Candidate should not have had any professional licensure / certification withheld, suspended, revoked, or denied, and the candidate must not have surrendered or allowed a licensure / certification to have expired or lapsed because of an investigation or disciplinary action.

Any National Practitioner Database finding will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Candidate must not have been convicted of, pled guilty to, pled nolo contender to, or received probation before judgement for any crime other than a minor traffic violation, the record of which has not been expunged.
  • Current unexpired Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification must be maintained from one of the following approved organizations : a.

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers

  • b. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), if applicable
  • c. American Red Cross CPR / BLS for the professional rescuer
  • d. American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders i. Course components must include Adult, Pediatric, and Infant CPR, Foreign Body Airway Obstruction, and Automatic Defibrillator (AED) proficiency
  • ii. Applicant / Employee must be certified upon hire and may also be a certified instructor
  • iii. BLS / CPR must be renewed prior to expiration date, and always kept in an active status

Title :

Research Psychologist

The purpose of this position is to support the Behavioral Health & Performance (BHP) Laboratory within the Biomedical Research and Environment Sciences Division at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX.

The Scientist will facilitate ongoing studies; write proposals for directed studies and grant solicitations; and complete data analyses and prepare reports, journal articles, and presentations regarding the study results.

The Scientist will assist in the management and execution of multiple Behavioral Health and Performance lab tasks to ensure the lab team produces high quality, implementable, and timely deliverables that help to reduce the risks associated with the behavioral health and performance of astronauts.

Responsibilities :

  • Work with the NASA BHP Lab Lead to implement research activities related to behavioral health and performance risks
  • Develop grant proposals in response to research calls from NASA or external funding organizations
  • Develop directed research proposals and support directed research in space flight analogs, available flight opportunities, and with medical and mission operations personnel
  • Conduct and coordinate data collection, cleaning, and organization
  • Analyze and interpret research and operational data, consulting with NASA statisticians for complex issues
  • Draft interim and final reports, literature reviews and summaries, and project summaries
  • Provide subject matter expertise for research design, methodologies, technologies, and assessments related to behavioral health and performance
  • Disseminate research findings through presentation to NASA program management, presentations at various national and international meetings and working groups, scientific conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals
  • Participate in presenting project updates, interim and final results, as well as program objectives and direction to scientists, engineers and managers
  • Collaborate with a variety of contributors and stakeholders including BHP Operations personnel, flight surgeons, mission managers and a multidisciplinary team of personnel to effectively plan and execute the research plans
  • Monitor multiple research project schedules, deliverables, and discuss status of projects with lab project manager
  • Provide inputs to weekly and monthly status reports for NASA technical monitor review
  • Assist NASA technical monitors with updates to NASA standards, and periodic review and update of human spaceflight risks especially relates to behavioral health and performance
  • Advise and assist in the development of protocols and processes that promote efficient and effective management of the BHP Laboratory projects and personnel.
  • Develop innovative and original solutions to problems
  • Maintain data quality practices and standards established within the laboratory
  • Liaise with internal and external collaborators to effectively plan, track, and complete collaborative research

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED :

Ph.D. and at least 3 years of experience in one of the following areas of psychology :

Neuropsychology, Clinical, I / O Psychology, Space Psychology, Physiological, Health Psychology, Behavioral Medicine

Experience conducting behavioral health and performance research, conducting literature reviews, and collecting and analyzing behavioral health and performance data

DESIRED :

Prior experience in managing, coordinating, and directing research projects.

Prior experience with NASA, Aerospace, Military, or operational environments

SKILLS / TRAINING

REQUIRED :

  • Proficient with software tools used by the lab including MS Office, R, and RMarkdown
  • Proven ability to apply research methodology for evaluating proposals and research design
  • Demonstrated technical and scientific writing ability, completing all levels of writing, such as research reports and summaries, briefings, technical reports, and project plans, etc.
  • Possess broad understanding of behavioral health and performance outcomes required for individuals required to function effectively in an isolated, confined environment during long-duration exploration missions (e.

g., performance, cognition, mood)

  • Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and presentation skills with varied audiences, including various levels of management, internationals, scientists, medical professionals and engineers
  • Demonstrated organizational skills for coordinating complex activities and schedules, and managing tasks per a defined timeline
  • Successful project management experience
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing requirements

P-3C Flight Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate for this position will perform flight duties as a P-3C Flight Engineer (FE) at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron THREE ZERO (VX-30), Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) on board Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, CA.

Candidate must also be willing to attain and maintain a Secondary aircraft qualification and perform various administrative duties associated with a DoD contract.

Travel required up to 20%. Primary P-3C Flight Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to :

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • P-3C Aircraft Systems Expert
  • Conduct aircraft Pre-flight / Post-flight
  • Aircraft Fueling- ground fueling and inflight management
  • Compute Takeoff, Climb, Cruise and Landing data from the P-3C NATOPS Manual
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning aircraft systems and work with the Pilot in Command to initiate emergency procedures / actions as required by the P-3C NATOPS
  • Provide Instruction and Training to aircrewmen and document training for Squadron Personnel
  • Perform administrative duties as required

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or an additional 4 years' experience in lieu of degree (9 years total)
  • 1500 hours and five (5) years of experience as a qualified Flight Engineer on P-3C aircraft is required
  • Current military or FAA Class II medical certification and ability to meet annual medical recertification is required
  • Must be able to obtain / maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Current Secret Clearance is desired
  • Previous designation as a P-3C Flight Engineer is required. Current designation as a P-3C FE is desired. If not currently designated, the candidate will be required to re-qual in a minimal amount of time depending upon customer resources.
  • An APU Operator certification is desired
  • Must complete a Naval Air Training and Operating Procedure Standards (NATOPS) open and closed test, NATOPS check ride, and egress training.

Each requires annual recurrency

  • Must complete NATOPS ground and flight Crew Resource Management training with an annual recurrency requirement
  • Must complete Naval Aviation Survival Training Program (Swims) training for class 4 aircraft (C-130) with a 4-year recurrency requirement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of DOD rules and regulations governing aircraft operations is required
  • Knowledge of the P-3C NATOPS manual is required
  • The ability to work with integrated test teams comprised of military, civilian and contractor personnel in a professional manner is required
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required

Basic Compensation : $97,000-$121,000

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and / or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation :

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
