Job Summary : The Certified Pharmacy Technician I-IV assists the pharmacist(s) in storing, preparing, distributing, reconciling, and charging all medications and other healthcare products to the appropriate areas serviced by the pharmacy.

The Technician works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and will only perform activities that are in compliance with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities :

  • Accurately and efficiently prepares and labels medications. Always obtains a final check from the pharmacist before dispensing / delivering a medication or releasing any compounded medication.
  • Tracks prescription orders via pharmacy programs to ensure correct delivery information is given to patients.

  • Monitors and ensures adequate inventory is maintained in all areas.
  • Communicates when products need to be reordered. Manages drug supplies in a cost-effective manner and identifies opportunities to minimize waste.
  • Ensures medication management processes meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs routine tasks using existing policies, and has conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a discipline, typically acquired through technical training.
  • Develops competency by performing structured work assignments, and receiving instruction, guidance, and direction from others.

Continues to build knowledge of the organization and pharmacy processes.

Performs a range of straightforward assignments related to discipline, uses prescribed guidelines and policies to analyze and resolve problems and receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Inpatient and Oncology Pharmacy

  • Accurately prepares IVs utilizing the aseptic technique, under the supervision of a pharmacist, in accordance with USP Guidelines and Texas State Board of
  • Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.
  • Assists in maintaining unit dose readiness of bulk products. Verifies barcode scan accuracy.
  • Makes timely rounds and accurately and safely transport medications and other pharmacy supplies to assigned areas.
  • Replenishes stock in the automated dispensing system, crash cart trays, and specialty medication boxes accurately and timely.
  • Performs and documents quality control activities, including monthly medication storage area inspections, and completes information on all required log sheets.
  • Performs daily ADS routines (outdates, discrepancy resolution, loading / unloading, etc.) and troubleshoots all ADS issues (pocket / drawer failures, temperatures out of range, interface issues, etc.).

Outpatient Pharmacy

  • Assists in triaging and filling prescriptions while maintaining productivity standards.
  • Performs cashier functions and processing daily and ad hoc reports.
  • Verifies and updates patient demographic, insurance, and prescription information into the computer system.
  • Assists patients by providing excellent customer service directly and via the telephone.
  • Use associated hardware and software to complete pharmaceutical transactions and associated duties.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

  • Current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • National certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Graduate from a pharmacy technology program.
  • Sterile Compounding Certification accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Security Officer

Job Description :

Job Summary : The Security Officer is responsible for the physical protection of District patients, visitors, staff and property consistent with federal, state, and local laws, District policies and procedures.

This position is also required to act as a liaison with the public and District employees and serve as public relations representatives for the TCHD Police Department.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities :

  • Performs security and safety patrols in assigned areas. Report security and safety issues as appropriate.
  • Monitors and investigates all safety, security, and unusual incidents on District property. Contacts TCHD Police and / or other agencies as required when a Police Officer presence is necessitated.
  • Assists departments, clinics, and healthcare areas during internal and external events that may affect normal hospital operations.
  • Provides personal escorts to District personnel, patients, and visitors as requested.
  • Ensures, through appropriate patrol techniques, proper barriers, barricades, and warning signs are in place.
  • Ensures maintenance requests are forwarded to appropriate departments relative to safety issues such as lighting, equipment failures, etc.
  • Participates in disaster drills and operations as necessary.
  • Prepares and submits TCHD PD reports and other JPS reports as necessary.
  • Ensures safety regulations are complied with in an effort to facilitate an efficient and accident-free environment.
  • Demonstrates courteous and professional demeanor toward all persons.
  • Complies with District and JCAHO mandatory training requirements and any additional training requirements set forth by the department.
  • Must be professional in appearance and in compliance with the TCHD PD uniform policy.
  • Hear and respond to audible emergency alarms and instructions transmitted on the TCHD PD radio.
  • Respond audibly to public inquiries and transmit clearly over a TCHD PD radio.
  • Must excel at decision making, problem solving, and customer service.
  • Receive and process lost / found property and evidence as directed by policies and procedures.
  • Respond to violent physical encounters using the appropriate force necessary in accordance with State and Federal laws and TCHD PD policies and procedures.
  • Testify in court as required.
  • Respond appropriately to all requests for assistance in accordance with JPS and TCHD PD policy and procedures.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

  • Valid Texas driver license.
  • Completion of the Department’s defensive driving course. May be obtained subsequent to hire.
  • Completion of the IAHSS Basic Training Certification Course. Must be obtained within one year from the date of hire.
  • Completion of the TCHD PD approved defensive tactics training course. Must be completed within six months of hire.
  • Completion of the TCHD PD Security Officer training program. Must be completed within six months of hire.
  • Completion of the Calming Angry Persons training. Must be completed within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 1 plus year of experience as a security officer or health care security officer.
  • 1 plus year of experience using Microsoft Professional Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual skills

Job Summary : The Social Worker Outpatient MSW PRN assists patients and their family members by obtaining services or initiating referrals in an effort to eliminate personal or environmental barriers which may interfere with maximum benefits of health care.

This job supports the provider and interdisciplinary team in facilitating and coordinating patient care through the continuum.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities :

Performs psychosocial assessments to identify individualized needs and develops a plan to address each need that takes into consideration the requests of the patient / family.

Makes referrals to the appropriate resources within the JPS Health Network and within the community.

  • Collaborates one-on-one, in huddles or team meetings with Providers, Nurse Case Managers and Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) staff focusing on identifying the needs of complex high risk patients.
  • Provides brief supportive counseling to patients and families exhibiting complex family dynamics directly impacting patient care.
  • Assists patients and families to cope with and manage life-changing diseases, death and dying, advanced directive education, disabilities, etc.
  • Supports patients and providers with reviewing and completing various eligibility forms for social programs, funding sources, durable medical equipment, etc.
  • Follows-ups with patients and families ensuring that services provided are helpful, appropriate, and adequate. Develops and sustains long term working relationships with patients and families.
  • Aids with care coordination for patients with complex psychosocial needs including providing services in a variety of settings ( PCMH, patient homes, hospitals and other health care locations).

Local travel may be required to perform duties at multiple sites.

  • Educates patients and families regarding various care options ( home care, nursing home, hospice, etc.) and ensures that the patient’s choices are incorporated into the care coordination plan.
  • Documents each component of the case management process and related activities in the electronic medical record system according to departmental guidelines.
  • Assists with cost containment, short-term intervention, ambulatory and community-based care, and decentralization of services.
  • Works as a member of the interdisciplinary team as the patient advocate.
  • Complies with National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics and maintains legal and regulatory accountability.

  • BCLS may be obtained subsequent to hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

Case Management Certification (ACM or CCM).
