A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A MANUFACTURING ENGINEER / PLANNER

you make sure that our assemblers have a proper set of work to instructions detailing the correct method or termination process that they need for new electrical wiring products.

You make sure that each build to package contains the needed information and instructions to properly assemble and test the product.

You review and approve engineering drawings for production tooling and harness assembly. Putting your analytical mind to work, you also determine any special processes that may be needed for new production runs.

With attention to detail, you review engineering documents such as drawings, parts lists, wire lists, process specifications, and manufacturing specifications for each electrical wiring product in order to glean the needed information to create a concise build to package.

You also determine if any material will be needed for each build to package that was not listed in the original bill of materials.

You also create and revise the internal databases that contain the point-to-point termination information for the wiring, labeling, and marking requirements associated with the product.

Additionally, you decide how much time each operation should take for all jobs and which mating connectors should be used as well as design test cables to test them.

With flexibility, you incorporate design changes into build to packages and determine what the impact on production will be.

With resourcefulness, you determine acceptable part substitutions for materials that are no longer available. Though you spend a lot of time working independently, you are friendly and approachable, collaborating with team members and answering production questions in a timely manner.

You love the challenge and variety inherent in your job!
