Healthcare Construction Superintendent

The Healthcare Superintendent is responsible to support the General or Senior Superintendent in overseeing one or more operational areas of a construction project.

This position may coordinate and schedule multiple construction crews, determines construction requirements, plans procedures, and ensures subcontract work meets required specifications.

The position will also participate in the inspection of work and equipment to verify safety and ensure project operations specifications are met.

In this role you may be required to travel up to 100% of the time.

Responsibilities :

Coordinate and manage daily field operational objectives, timelines, and goals.

Monitor the overall progress of a project and work site, review processes and practices within teams to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality of delivery.

Participate in the monitoring of the project schedule and budget and work with Senior Superintendents to maintain and update.

Coordinate with the subcontractor's office for recovery plans where necessary, meet regularly with staff and subcontractors to discuss progress, obstacles, challenges and assist in removing barriers to completing work.

Read construction documents to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.

Record and maintain information and produce reports such as personnel, production, project logs, status, and other operational data.

Manage the safety of a job site by actively walking the site, participating in inspections, training and meeting with staff and subcontractors regularly.

Requirements :

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

5-7 years in a construction management role with 1-3 years healthcare construction experience and 1 project as a Superintendent

Knowledge of scheduling, cost control and safety procedures

Knowledge of all crafts of construction including, but not limited to carpentry, concrete, structural steel, and interior build-outs

Experience managing performance and leading a diverse field team

General Computer skills (MS Office)

Valid Driver's License Required

Preconstruction Manager - Healthcare

The Healthcare Preconstruction Manager is responsible for managing the entire preconstruction process from the initial concept to the final design and contractor selection.

They guide projects from early design until start of construction while maintaining the client's budget, implementing phasing and contracting requirements, and keeping the design team on schedule.

This position works closely with Project and Program Managers, Architects, Engineers, and Clients to align preconstruction services to the overall mission of a given project or program and to insure the highest level of professionalism and service to clients.

In this role you may be required to travel up to 15% of the time.

Responsibilities :

Oversee the accuracy and quality of estimates, drawing reviews, specification reviews and all other construction documents.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with client / owner, architect / engineer, contractors, and subcontractors.

Maintain current estimating records and unit prices

Collaborate with Project Manager in general contractor / subcontractor proposal evaluation.

Prepare the preliminary, schematic, design development and construction estimates during pre-construction, monitor design development for potential problem areas or cost over-runs as well as participate in value engineering process.

Participate in preparation of the construction schedule for preconstruction purposes.

Support Business Development in proposal presentations and actively participate in business related community activities.

Take lead role in scheduling, planning, conducting, and facilitating design / preconstruction meetings with Owners and design team.

Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field

5-7 years of experience within a Pre-construction / Estimating environment, working specific to large healthcare and / or life science

Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of construction cost estimating, conceptual budgeting, and scheduling.

Thorough understanding of healthcare / life science environments and systems.

Proficient in MS Office

Valid Driver's License Required

LEED AP preferred.
