Environmental Engineer

We are looking for the expertise of an experienced Environmental Engineer to use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop technically sound solutions to environmental problems.

Responsibilities

  • Project management of a diverse range of environmental investigation and remediation projects including coordination of field efforts
  • Work may include occasional field activities, particularly for training junior staff or for complex sites, and on-call periods
  • Work on environmental compliance projects including in areas of stormwater, air quality, wastewater, and hazardous waste management
  • Contributing author on project-related documents and deliverables such as RI / FS, Phase II ESA, RAPs, RAWs, Stormwater management plans, SWPPPs, NPDES compliance documents, etc
  • The final review will be provided by Technical Lead on the project
  • Collaborating with CAD, GIS, and database staff on project needs
  • Providing hands-on training to junior technical staff on standard operating procedures for field activities and data management
  • Mentoring and supervising junior technical staff
  • Leading regulatory interactions and negotiations
  • Client development and business development activities
  • Experienced in analysis, evaluation, presentation, and interpretation of hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during field investigations

Requirements

  • In possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or an applicable science
  • Able to demonstrate 10+ years of related experience
  • Experienced with local environmental regulators, vendors, and geography
  • EIT or PE required
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers
  • Experience working on complex sites with various contaminated media
  • Experience implementing a variety of remediation technologies

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
  • Produce outline designs
  • Conduct experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs
  • Preparing design documentation and schedules
  • Providing design of HVAC, HVAC system controls, plumbing, piping, and fire protection design
  • Performing calculations, sizing, and analysis of electrical systems for buildings

  • Ensuring the preparation and timely delivery of accurate, complete, and value-added documents
  • Assisting with construction administration tasks by processing drawings, RFIs, and completing site visits during the construction phase

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) or licensed professional engineer (P.E.)
  • Ability to work in a team environment and set and manage priorities
  • Excellent people skills and strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Creativity and analytical skills

  • Collecting samples of soil, groundwater, and other environmental media in support of site investigation and remediation objectives.
  • Installing monitoring wells, performing remediation monitoring, and overseeing contractors.
  • Assisting in preparing various regulatory submittals, technical memorandums, and / or engineering design reports.
  • Managing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data for use in reports and other visualizations, including maps, charts, and 3D models.
  • Travel to job sites is required to support ongoing and potential project work activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of field experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, or Earth Sciences or a related field.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform field work and a wide range of physical activities, including sustained walking, standing, and reaching, in an outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection and pass baseline physical for job position.

  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
