Responsibilities
Pre-Shift
- Prepares the restaurant for opening by setting up tables and chairs and stocking side stations.
- Completes opening side work such as portioning sauces, cutting lemons, brewing ice tea, etc.
- Ensures tables are ready for Guests. Clean tops and seats, condiments filled and clean.
During Shift
- Greets Guests (Within 1 minute), introduces self, and presents menu specials in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow Points of Service.
- Suggestively sells additional menu items that will complement the Guest's order.
- Properly enters Guest's food and beverage orders into the POS system to ensure accurate orders.
- Checks food and beverage orders for accuracy, adds garnish to plates, and insists that all products meet standards for presentation, taste, and temperature.
- Runs food and beverages to the Guests according to proper serving procedures.
- Maintains a clean work environment by completing side work.
- Pre-busses tables (removing empty glasses and plates)
- Assists in seating Guests at tables, answering the phone and taking To Go orders.
- Anticipates Guest's needs and contributes to the Guest experience (refilling drinks, helping prepare plates, etc.)
- Conducts follow-ups with Guests to assess food and beverage quality, additional requests, etc.
- Checks IDs for drinking Guests, handles intoxicated Guests in the proper manner.
- Picks up debris off floor and cleans up spills promptly.
- Handles Guests' complaints following HBH Recovery Standards.
- Presents Guests with their checks, collects payment and returns change and receipt to the Guest.
- Thanks Guest for dining at HBH to promote return visits.
Closing
- Runs financial reports off the POS system to determine nightly sales, tip-out amounts, etc.
- Presents Manager with signed cash out report to complete the cash out procedure.
- Responsible for accurate cash handling and reconciling to POS transactions.
- Keeps accurate record of daily tips and reports all tips received as income.
- Tips out each shift to compensate the Bussers, Runners, and Bartenders.
- Completes Closing Side Work Duties (restocking, rolling silverware, cleaning station, etc.).
- Checks out with Manager at end of shift; performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 18 years or older to meet State requirement for serving alcohol.
- High School or GED equivalent preferred.
- Serving and / or Food Runner service preferred but not necessary.
