Project Manager - Healthcare

As Project Manager , you will collaborate with our award-winning thought leaders on exciting projects that involves thoughtful planning, research, sustainability and architectural innovation! We are looking for an individual who enjoys actively managing project teams and has confidence building long-term strategic relationships with our Healthcare clients in Northern California.
In addition to advancing HGA’s commitment to original design, your position requires excellent communication, time management and technical skills.
You will be working closely with Principals, Senior Designers, Project Architects and other Project Managers developing unique and complex design solutions in response to our client's needs and deadlines.
Your oversight on projects will enhance existing client relationships and build new ones through excellent design services.
In this role you will :
- Collaborate with Principal in evaluation of project requirements to negotiate an acceptable owner-architect agreement including the fee and time schedule.
- Demonstrate task-focused mastery of project scope, profitability, schedule and budget. Complete projects on schedule, within budget and with maximum client satisfaction.
- Negotiate critical issues with top-level architects, engineers and officials of other organizations and firms.
- Understand healthcare terminology as it relates to services, departments and building types in the healthcare setting.
- Understand and manage design with respect to building systems, security, technology and medical equipment specific to healthcare settings.
- Monitor quality of the construction documents keeping in mind schedules / budgets and provides coaching / communication as appropriate with team leaders and / or team members who are responsible for work flow / time-lines, etc.
- Develop discipline cost and work-hour budgets for each project and monitor project costs, completion status against budget schedules / time-lines.
Coordinates with the Principal and / or Practice Group Leader to track and develop owner add service requests as necessary during project design and construction.
Have working knowledge of coordination with all state and local authorities having jurisdiction over healthcare facilities design and construction.
Understand and coordinate the multiple agencies requirements given the project scope.
- Oversee all correspondence and pertinent documents for accuracy. Obtain signatures and seek legal counsel as appropriate.
- Coordinate’s review and evaluation of contractor bids and works with Principal so that award recommendation can be submitted to owner.
- Provide day-to-day leadership in the absence of and as delegated by the Principal and / or Practice Group Leader keeping lines of communication open with all office management leaders and assist with preparation of client billings prior to submittal for signature.
- Collaborate with Practice Group Leader as requested in the marketing of projects including development of proposals and possible participation in client interviews.
You will need to have :
- 7+ years of professional experience honed on increasingly more complex healthcare projects;
- OSHPD (HCAi) experience highly desirable;
- understanding of the healthcare industry, especially in areas of clinical innovation, operational improvement, planning and strategic positioning for complex hospital systems is needed;
- experience with Lean and Evidence-based design a plus;
- architectural registration is preferred but not required;
- working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other industry accepted software as well as expertise with Project Manager software and Microsoft Office products is needed;
- exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients and have demonstrated the ability to oversee and be responsible for project delivery; and
- Other duties as assigned
Salary Information :
The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and / or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs.
Salary Range : $86,500-$125,600

This role reports to one of our Healthcare Practice Group Leaders in this region and focuses on assisting with strategic planning, identifying and qualifying target clients, building a strong network, and positioning the firm to win impactful, enduring work.

When we talk about the Northern California region, we are deepening growth around our current offices in San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento and expanding through growth across the territory;
up the West Coast through Oregon and Washington, as well as inland into Northern Nevada. This role will collaborate with our Healthcare Principals in San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento to create and implement growth strategies.
They will also coordinate efforts specific to large healthcare systems in this region with our National Healthcare team.
In this role you will :
- Working with Practice Group Leaders and Principals to develop a list of potential targeted clients and project opportunities that support the market-driven strategy of the Market Sector.
- In-front of decision makers of targeted clients and all types of partners to build and maintain relationships through a consultative and solutions-based approach.
- Researching leads and make cold or warm calls to potential clients, evaluating and targeting prospects based on evaluation criteria.
- Developing and maintaining strong business network contacts to keep abreast of industry, client and competitor activity as well as identify strong project partners.
- Have a deep understanding of current business trends (across sectors) within your geographic region.
- Possessing a deep understanding of clients, their business and their needs to help our firm preposition through strong relationships.
- Meeting with Principals on a regular basis to remain focused on growth, through strategizing, tracking and keeping each other accountable to client contact activities and prepositioning.
- Working as a trusted partner with Principals to inform pursuit and interview strategy as part of go / no-go decisions.
- Assisting the Practice Group Leader in budgeting and monitoring the overall marketing budget. Work with marketing department to report KPIs.
- Collaborating with marketing team to advise on the development of marketing collateral for client engagement.
- Creating awareness for HGA in the marketplace through professional organizations and events.
There will also be times you will :
- Collaborate with other offices and market sectors, especially the National Healthcare team and broader Healthcare Practices.
- Identify and represent HGA at key industry associations and events and coordinate participation of other key HGA personnel, plus follow-up on requests.
- Work closely with marketing team to address communication strategy and media plan.
- Coach and mentor project teams on business development strategy and skills.
- Update CRM data (in Deltek Vision) database on a timely basis and build reports.
You will need to have :
Basic Qualifications
- Be self-motivated and driven to achieve practice group goals for business development
- Possess previous experience in sales or business development, with the ability to strengthen and further deepen our existing client relationships.
- Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that are adaptive to a wide range of personalities.
- Participate in frequent early morning, evening and some weekend event attendance outside of normal business hours.
- Travel up to 30% of the time, either over-the-road of by air.
Preferred Qualifications (Value-add, not required)
- BS / BA in Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a design-related field is preferred.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Products Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Skills in Deltek Vision and / or other CRM / real estate software, is helpful. If not proficient, have a strong acumen to learn new technologies and software.
- Skills with Adobe Creative Suite or other publisher-type software is helpful.

Project Coordinator - Healthcare
Overview
HGA has an excellent position for an experience Project Coordinator with a passion for design to reside in our Sacramento, California office, advancing HGA’s commitment to innovation and design excellence and will be part of our Heathcare practice group.
In this role you will :
- develop concepts according to parameters defined by Project Manager or Project Architect; .
- produce construction documents in Revit, including plans, sections and details;
- assist with quality control for the design function and integrates and coordinates all disciplines into the building project;
- maintain ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time / budget constraints that may impact initial assignment;
- interact and communicates effectively and professionally with other team members;
- utilize past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of product, recognize problem issues, communicates impact to team and seek clarity when necessary;
- assure execution of and assist with quality control activities for architectural elements on a project
- reviews drawings, documents and submittals for document compliance and documenting code review and compliance
- keeps lead architect or designated team leader informed of progress; recognizes problem issues and communicates impact to team, and seeks clarity when necessary;
- use past experience and project knowledge to assist the Project Manager keeping in mind schedules / budgets and provides communication as appropriate with team leaders and / or team members who are responsible for work flow / timelines, etc.;
- meet project design schedule and design construction budgets;
- assist with cost estimates and evaluation of bids with project manager;
- assist with the preparation of analyses including alternates or substitutions to reduce costs; and
- perform other duties as assigned.
You will need to have :
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
- 5-7 years of experience with small to large scale projects
- Strong 2D and 3D graphics skills are essential
- Proficiency in Revit required

Data analyst
Overview
HGA has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our Public Corporate group. Bring your passion, curiosity, work ethic, creativity and differentiating experience into unique project work in planning, sustainability and architectural design innovation! In this role, you will join a team responsible for implementing data capture strategies from diverse sources, building and curating a database of our workplace project data, analysis and visualization.
In addition, in this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of research publications and original thought-leadership.
Ideal candidates will possess a level of education, experience and training in data systems, management, and associated strategy.
Candidates will need to demonstrate analytical problem solving, superior oral and written communication skills, as well as a fluency in data visualization techniques.
This role will join our Public Corporate group, and closely collaborate with our Design Insight Group (DIG).
In this role you will :
- Accept specific assignments and develop concepts according to parameters defined by project leadership.
- Collaborate with project leadership in evaluation of project requirements in order to align scope, schedule and anticipated effort
