Position : CDL Driver
Department : Shipping & Receiving
Position Reports to : Traffic Coordinator / Shipping and Receiving Supervisor / Shipping and Receiving Manager / Operations Manager / General Manager / Managing Director
FLSA Status : Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
To make local pickups and deliveries as instructed. To assist with maintaining facility and warehouse inventories in a neat and orderly fashion.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Communicate with Traffic Coordinator for daily pickups and deliveries.
- Handle raw materials and finished stock to preserve and prevent damage and deterioration.
- Inspect tractors and trailers daily for defects or problems.
- Complete the driver’s vehicle inspection report.
- Keep the trailer swept out and orderly.
- Verify that the truck is loaded properly and that the load is secured safely for transport.
- Maintain truck logbook and fill out all records as required.
- Safety is a personal responsibility; verify that the area and equipment are safe before proceeding with duties.
- Check all safety equipment; follow all facility safety rules and procedures; wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Lock-out / Tag-out procedures must be adhered to when equipment is down for repair or cleaning.
- Ability to clean tools and maintain identified tool boards while keeping workstation and surrounding area clean and organized.
- Keep equipment in safe operating condition, and report problems to the Maintenance department.
- Participate in the training of new Associates as directed by the Supervisor
- Perform any other project / task as assigned by Management.
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent is desired. Successful completion of the Competency Assessment may be considered in lieu of education.
- Valid Class A CDL Driver’s License with a minimum of five (5) years’ truck driving experience with full comprehension of all traffic laws.
- Valid hazardous material endorsement
- Ability to perform basic math (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Good computer / systems skills MS Office (Excel / Word / Outlook).
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Ability to visually identify color differences and to check material for containments or inconsistencies.
- Good cooperation and collaboration skills.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- High degree of concentration with attention to detail, high energy and self-motivated.
- Ability to manage demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events through organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coach and train Associates.
- Ability to interact well with all personality types.
Physical Requirements the physical requirements of the CDL Driver Lead position required in an 8-hour workday.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will work in a manufacturing environment, with the potential for occasional visits to the production area as needed.
