Electrician
Duties :
- The safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all electrical plant and equipment onboard.
- Administration of the planned maintenance system of the electrical plant.
- Carrying out regular inspections of all electrical power management systems, switchgear, motors, batteries etc. to conform to standards of operation and maintenance.
- Ensuring that the Chief Engineer and Engineers are kept fully informed of all electrical activities and developments and that no major repair or maintenance to the electrical plant is carried out without the approval of the Chief Engineer and Engineer on Watch.
- Ensuring electrical plant is managed to achieve maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Exercising control over ordering electrical spares and consumables ensuring critical spares are maintained at appropriate levels.
- Maintaining adequate machinery records and compiling reports for Management and Class Societies as required.
- Ensuring that all electrical records, manuals and technical drawings are updated and maintained correctly.
- Technical reports concerning maintenance, repairs and breakdowns of electrical equipment as required.
- Ensuring that other crewmembers and subcontractor personnel working under his direction act in a safe and responsible manner.
- Performing emergency duties in accordance with the vessel’s Muster List / Station Bill.
- Ensuring that the daily activities within the electrical engineering department are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and that the impact of the electrical engineering department operations on the environment are within acceptable limits.
- Arrange and conduct regular safety inspections of electrical machinery and power management systems and power management spaces.
- Participating as a member of the Vessel Safety Committee if so elected.
- Ensuring adequate safe systems of work are adopted for all activities within the electrical engineering department and that all relevant safety regulations and procedures are adopted.
- Coordination of work permits within his area of jurisdiction (this may be in consultation with the Chief Engineer / Master / Chief Officer).
Qualifications :
- Education : Qualification requirements are contained in the Qualifications & Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel.
- Experience : Minimum 2 years experience as ship's electrician.
- Skills : Fluent in both verbal and written English. Computer literate.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Offshore operations, data recording, maintenance and repair of the ROV / Trenching / ROVDrill systems and ancillary equipment under the direction of Superintendent / Supervisor
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
To perform ROV / Trenching / ROVDrill operations as directed and in accordance with approved procedures and Canyon QHSE Policy and Objectives
To receive and perform inventory control of the system spares and consumables
To maintain system and project records (e.g. inventory, weekly safety reports, dive logs, video logs, etc under the direction of the Superintendent / Supervisor
To conduct maintenance in compliance with Canyon Offshore Maintenance System, and maintain records of maintenance
To ensure work area and equipment are kept clean and safe.
To carry out other tasks as delegated by Canyon Project Manager or Superintendent / Supervisor
To cultivate and maintain a positive attitude.
To apply safe work ethics.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.
COMPETENCIES :
Shall have High School Diploma or GED
Shall possess knowledge of current safety and quality standards as applied to systems and their requirements in an offshore environment
Shall complete HUET / BOSIET, medical certification, Safe Gulf and obtain passport
Shall have basic computer skills
Canyon Offshore is hiring ROV technicians and supervisors with Perry (XLX / XLS)and Schilling (UHD / HD) experience. All applicants must be US citizens or hold valid US Green Card.
Schedules range from fixed rotations to project call-out work.
