Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist Regulatory and Environmental Compliance Professional we'll count on you to

• Plan and direct medium- to large-size environmental permitting and compliance projects for utility, solar, wind, solid waste, industrial facilities, and other projects as identified
• Prepare, plan and analyze / review technical studies, permit applications, environmental planning studies, environmental assessments / impact analysis and associated permitting and compliance monitoring for infrastructure and development projects that require conformance with State / City Environmental Reviews & National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Experience with Rhode Island permitting is required

• Research and interpret scientific literature, regulatory programs, guidance and applications
• Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, natural resources, land use, etc.
• Work with GIS or oversee use of GIS tools
• Conduct environmental impact assessments
• Conduct field assessments, and support field investigations

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
• 7+ years' experience in complex environmental planning / compliance projects preparing environmental documents which should include experience in wetlands / natural resources, permitting, planning, NEPA, , Section 7, Rhode Island State Permitting, research and assessment of regulations, GIS applications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the NEPA process.
• Ability to read and interpret design plans

• Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline engineering projects or large, routine projects.
• Foster and develop client relationships for yourself and your staff.

• Conducting studies and evaluations on distribution and / or collection system.

HDR is looking for an Environmental Scientist and / or Environmental Planner to conduct environmental studies and prepare permit applications for transportation and other projects.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing environmental team within a well-established nationwide company.

The job will be based at HDR’s Pennington, NJ (*preferred*); Newark, NJ; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ office.

Responsibilities :

The candidate will perform environmental studies and prepare applications and approvals to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)-Regulatory Branch, and other federal and state permitting agencies.

NJDEP permit involvements will include Freshwater Wetlands, Floor Hazard Area / Riparian Zone, and Coastal Zone Permits (CAFRA, Coastal Wetlands, Waterfront Development).

In addition, the candidate will be required to prepare documentation associated with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) approvals, NJ Executive Order 215 (EO215) approvals, and section 4(f) Evaluations.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to :

• Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team from the schematic design through contract document phase of a project.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule. Conduct coordination work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review mechanical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines. Write and edit mechanical specifications, selects equipment, mechanical systems and devices.
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.

Provide construction contract administration as needed.

Conduct QA / QC on the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, PE preferred or near term on track to PE is required; 5+ years’ experience in mechanical system design of Commercial, Institutional, Healthcare, Science and Technology and / or Civic facilities preferred.
• Computer experience using Revit, MS Office, load calculation software, energy modeling software, and manufacturer selection software required.
• Previous experience with an architectural / engineering or engineering consulting firm is preferred.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
• Healthcare, Science and Technology and / or Civic facilities experience
• Experience and / or interest in sustainable design / LEED desired but not required.

In the role of Marketing Assistant, we'll count on you to :

• Work with marketing and Project Managers to prepare materials, including qualifications, brochures, presentations, newsletters, proposals, award submittals, announcements and reports
• Use intranet, collaboration and file repository sites
• Develop and coordinate graphics, write and edit layout materials
• Research and produce technical documents and reports
• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Access, Photoshop, Corel
• Writing ability, strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
• Ability to handle tight deadlines and make independent decisions critical to job success
• Quick self-starter, team-oriented and able to work with different personalities and professional styles
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing preferred
• A minimum of 1 year document layout and production experience preferred
• AEC industry experience preferred
• Experience in proposal planning and coordination preferred
