Title : BUSINESS ANALYST HATCH ADVISORY

Reports to : Regional Director, North America

Position Summary

Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to join the Advisory group in Brooklyn, NY, reporting to the Regional Director, North America.

Our advisory and consulting experts work with our clients to help them meet their business, financial, and project objectives.

As a Business Analyst, you will be a strong communicator, hardworking, team-oriented, curious, creative, insightful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with imperfect or limited information.

As the successful candidate, you will :

  • Work with Hatch and client project teams to deliver high quality results for our clients
  • Deliver segments of analysis and reporting within Advisory projects
  • Assist with project management and coordination duties, such as work planning, invoicing, and reporting
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity
  • Research, review, clean and analyze data to facilitate the development of well-supported, value-add solutions to customers’ most complex challenges
  • Facilitate workshops with clients
  • Develop and deliver presentations both internally and for clients.
  • Select and use a variety of business analysis tools and techniques, asset improvement, process optimization and asset management techniques
  • Assist clients to identify opportunities, create and execute a strategy, achieve the expected outcomes, and sustain these outcomes through the development of asset strategies, key performance indicators and performance measures
  • Undertake potentially frequent international travel to client / project sites
  • Development of general business project skills and / or greater depth of knowledge within an industry or functional specialization
  • Build trusted relationships with existing clients to further develop business opportunities
  • Keep up to date with issues and trends in information systems and their use in the mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure

Requirements What you bring to the role :

  • 2-5 years of industry experience relevant to mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure
  • Proven experience in using research and analysis tools
  • Superior communicator with the ability to interact professionally and considerately with client(s), gaining co-operation and respect
  • Ability to work independently and under own initiative, or actively contribute as an effective member of a team
  • Experience working in a high-energy, deliverable-oriented environment with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong data analytics skills, including experience with business requirements gathering, analysis and ability to translate business requirements into technical process solutions
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to a broad range of project types and responsibilities
  • Financial modeling experience is considered a strong asset

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Preferred : an MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is advantageous.

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Rail Transit Vehicle Project Manager to join our North American Infrastructure group in our Vehicle Engineering group in our Boston, MA office.

As a successful candidate, you will :

  • Manage the effective utilization of professional / technical staff on assigned projects
  • Perform technical and contract-related analysis, cost estimating, coordinating and monitoring project assignments by establishing priorities and managing employees
  • Review and manage projects to ensure completion of work within schedules and budgets
  • Maintain communication with client regarding the project; forecasting staffing requirements and assisting in development of employee skill requirements needed for projects
  • Prepare scope of work, monitoring work progress and budgeting throughout assignment; provide analysis of change orders
  • Coordinate the interaction of all subject matter experts, supporting staff and the subcontractors to accomplish assigned tasks within budget and schedule
  • Monitor financial performance of projects and make recommendations for corrective actions, when needed
  • Develop new business opportunities
  • Ability to manage and work with our Business Development Staff to prepare successful technical and cost proposals
  • Participates in Client interviews

You bring to the role :

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • 7 10 years of progressive rail vehicle engineering and project management experience
  • Diverse technical and contract skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills are a must
  • Possess broad-based rail vehicle engineering knowledge
  • Ability to manage, direct and supervise the work efforts of a professional and technical staff on assigned vehicle projects
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, work well within a team
  • Ability to travel when required

The following skills / experience are a plus (but not required) :

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate
