Harbor Health looking for skilled Medical Assistants (MAs) to become a member of our team. Harbor Health is an entirely new multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX utilizing a modern approach to co-create health with those who get, give, and pay for it, allowing everyone to fully flourish.

MAs will perform work that is central to ensure the clinic operations run smoothly. Their essential duties will include client intake, collecting lab specimens, charting in electronic medical records, administering immunizations, assisting with minor procedures and other supportive functions for the clinical team.

Our MAs will be responsible for :

  • Collaborating with the clinical team to execute care tasks as ordered by our providers.
  • Delivers care in accordance with the member's care plan.
  • Completing opening and closing tasks each day to prepare for daily operations.
  • Supporting the care team to ensure clients’ needs are met and hand-offs are appropriately conducted.

Successful MAs will have :

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in primary care
  • CPR Certification
  • Computer skills with the ability to enter information in the E.H.R. system and compile reports or data as requested
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive / proactive customer service attitude
  • Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public
  • Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities;

Role :

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for delivering client centered services that empower geriatric participants to participate more fully in Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL’s) through remediation, adaptation and compensatory strategies.

The Occupational Therapist works to restore function and prevent disability, assisting the participant in reaching his / her maximal potential while learning to live within the limits of his / her capabilities.

Responsibilities :

  • Assesses the participant’s functional abilities, including physical, emotional, cognitive and sensory components to evaluate the necessity of skilled OT intervention.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of care plans, modifies treatment plans as needed, and recommends termination of services as appropriate.
  • Determines the participant’s need for services in collaboration with the IDT.
  • Restores, maintains and promotes not only optimal physical function, but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health.
  • Works to prevent the onset, symptoms and progression of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions or injuries.
  • Identifies participant’s needs and exhibits compassion, caring and empathy toward individual differences.
  • Recommends options, courses of action or modifications to treatments ensuring participation’s progress, safety and comfort.
  • Conducts re-examinations and modifies interventions as necessary to achieve anticipated goals and expected outcomes and develop and implement discharge plans.
  • Measures effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions, and report findings to the IDT.
  • Able to quickly recognize situations / problems before they become acute and be able to implement a timely solution.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR according to ESP and department guidelines.
  • Provides in-service education to ESP staff and community education within scope of knowledge.
  • Assists the Manager of Rehabilitation Services in the operation of durable medical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs.
  • Must be able to travel in a timely manner to participant’s home, ALF’s or LTC facilities to perform duties.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current MA Occupational Therapy License required, current BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting or program for older, frail adult populations; previous Home Care experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the federal, state and PACE regulations, and policies and procedures that mandate and affect community day health care preferred.
  • Hands on experience with therapeutic exercises, functional training and physical modalities preferred.
  • Shows flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills to support the delivery of occupational therapy services and the IDT process.
  • Computer Literate with Basic skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to attend to details and complete tasks on time with drive to continually grow and learn.
