We've recently onboarded a Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO) to guide this transformation and lead the Enterprise Data and Analytic Office (EDAO).
We have a newly created Data Scientist role presenting a distinctive opportunity to be part of Data Science Center of Excellence within EDAO, actively contributing to Guardian’s ongoing evolution.
Guardian’s EDAO spearheads a culture of data insights across Guardian, facilitating the successful realization of our strategic initiatives.
Our core activities encompass creating business value from our data and analytic products. Key responsibilities include data lifecycle management, insight development, and data product delivery.
We are a team of data analysts, data product owners, data engineers, data scientists and most importantly, data business leaders.
Our solutions and actions are critical to Guardian’s revenue growth, risk management and customer experience.
In this role as Data Scientist, you'll be working in a team of Data Scientists led by Lead Data Scientist to develop advanced data science solutions, leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence, to drive enterprise-wide innovation across various business lines and Guardian products.
You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams of other Data Science, Data Engineering, Business groups. Successful candidates have strong technical foundation, excel in coding, detail oriented, and have passion for analytical thinking and problem solving.
You are
Passionate about cutting-edge technology and keen on applying new AI / ML algorithms and approaches. You are analytically driven, intellectually curious, and experienced leading the development and implementation of data and analytic solutions to solve challenging business problems.
You enjoy collaborating with other Data Scientists to crack hard to solve problems with AI / ML and seeing it deployed in-market and generating value for Guardian.
You enjoy collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team including data engineers, business analysts, software developers and functional business experts and business leaders.
You will
- Analyze large, complex datasets to extract insights and decide on the appropriate techniques to uncover patterns and trends.
- Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms; combine models through ensemble modeling.
- Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis.
- Propose innovative ways to look at problems through using data mining and data visualization.
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
- Present information using data visualization techniques; communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and reporting.
- Consistent accuracy and thoroughness in performing work assignments.
- Ability to work collaboratively with development / implementation staff through the design and build of new business processes and systems.
- Perform regular data quality control, prepare and maintain reports, and troubleshoot data anomalies.
- Attend industry conferences to stay current on industry trends, challenges, and potential market opportunities.
You have
- Bachelor's degree required.
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, preferred.
- Basic experience in data analysis and statistical modeling.
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree, bagging / boosting artificial neural networks, etc.
and their real-world advantages / drawbacks.
- Experience with data science toolkits, such as Python or R.
- Hands-on experience with GPU, distributed computing and applying parallelism to ML solutions.
- Knowledge of data management tools including SQL, Hadoop, or similar technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
- Effective communication skills to work with partners to identify business questions and work through their data to search for answers.
Tell meaningful story with data and explain complex solutions in a simple way.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly, and master diverse technologies and techniques.
Location
This is a flexible position requiring 2 days a week in the office, preferably New York City, New York.
Salary Range
$89,470.00 - $146,980.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.

Virtualization engineer
Overview
As a Virtualization Engineer you will design, implement, and maintain virtual desktop environments for our organization. Since we hold ourselves to very high standards, you will work closely with IT teams and end users to ensure a reliable, secure, and scalable VDI environment that meets our business needs.
You Are :

You Will :
- Design and implement virtual desktop infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of our business and end-users.
- Maintain strong vendor partner relationships to stay ahead of new technology and product features to improve customer experience.
Stay ahead of competing technologies to make roadmap recommendations.
- Maintain and monitor the VDI environment to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VDI infrastructure and desktops.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and backup procedures for the VDI environment.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure integration of VDI with other systems and applications.
- Identify, research, and keep informed of emerging technologies and solutions to find opportunities for their use.
- Thoroughly understand business lines to determine technology opportunities, propose proactive recommendations, and implement plans.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identify areas for improvement and developing and implementing plans to inspire change.
- Actively participate in Workplace SAFe Agile Release Train.
- Actively document and manage design documentation and standard operating procedures. Govern process & procedures while meeting or exceeding audit and other controls.
- Take ownership of technical issues with balancing a security mindset with customer experience.
- Work with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff and perform other duties as assigned
You Have :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining virtual desktop environments.
- Proficient knowledge of virtualization technologies, such as Amazon Workspaces, Windows 365, Azure VDI, and Citrix.
- Strong experience with AWS technologies such as Workspaces, S3 and EC2
- Solid experience with Microsoft technologies such as PowerAutomate, Windows365, Autopilot, Co-management, and Intune and Microsoft Operating Systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with end-users and IT staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent scripting skills such as bash, powershell, etc.
Location & Travel :
- The primary location for this position is Bethlehem PA with 2 - 3 days a week in the office
- 25% Travel to local offices as needed
