Job Summary :
The Dispatcher / Router is responsible for establishing, scheduling, and routing cost effective, safe and efficient transportation routes for students assigned to the district transportation system.
Communicates problems and transportation routing concerns to the transportation supervisor(s). Must be able to respond calmly under pressure.
Responds to questions related to routing, pickup and drop-off locations, time on the bus, staff assigned to routes, and communicates with parents / guardians, local school district personnel, etc.
as requested by the director for transportation services.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to) :
- Responsible for the operation of the district transportation software program and the development of cost effective, safe, and efficient transportation routes for all students assigned to the district transportation system.
- Updates routing changes on a daily basis and communicates such changes to the transportation supervisor(s) and department director.
- Coordinates and maintains a master bus route schedule that identifies students, pickup and drop-off locations, time on the bus for each student, staff assigned to each route, and maintains maps detailing each route.
- Communicates all route and schedule changes to drivers as directed by the transportation supervisor(s) and department director.
- Knowledgeable of all state, federal and local ordinances / laws related to transportation and designs routes / schedules accordingly.
- Drives bus routes, checks bus stops, roads and other traffic conditions for safety and reports findings to the transportation supervisor(s) and / or department director.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of a student database to facilitate the completion of state and district reports.
- Publishes all route information for bus drivers, school personnel, parents and staff.
- Coordinates daily dispatching to ensure that all routes are assigned with a driver and transportation aide, as appropriate.
- Coordinates field trips, assigns bus drivers and transportation aides and communicates with building personnel on field trip approvals in accordance with department procedures.
- Assists the transportation director and transportation supervisor(s) in the scheduling, routing and billing of field trips.
- Assists the department staff in covering the district radio system.
- Responsible for the accurate completion of all state reports and district reports related to scheduling, routing, field trips and related information.
- Participates in staff development and in-service training programs.
- Serves as a back-up to the transportation services coordinator to complete basic bookkeeping / accounting and payroll / finance tasks, as assigned.
- Participates in the storage and retrieval of student records and documents stored by local area network file servers.

Other Duties :
- Serves as a bus driver and / or a transportation aide in the event of an emergency or the unavailability of a substitute driver / aide.
- Presents scheduling and routing information at meetings as requested by the department director and / or transportation supervisor(s).
- Provides budget information to the department director and / or transportation supervisor(s), as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer successful college classes in computers, data management, word processing and scheduling software.
Pass a physical examination, including a drug test. Prefer no points on driver record. Must currently hold or be able to obtain within six months and maintain thereafter, a Commercial Driver License from the State of Michigan with required endorsements.
Maintain certification in first aid and cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Experience :
Three years successful bus driving experience preferred. Two years previous transportation routing experience preferred.
Prefer experience utilizing Versatrans routing system. Demonstrated computer, database and word processing software experience required.
Microsoft Office knowledge and experience required.
Music Therapist
Position Details
Job Summary :
The music therapist is responsible for coordination and implementation of music therapy and
music instruction programs in the assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to) :
1. Prepares daily lesson plans.
2. Develops and coordinates special student performances and programs.
3. Assists staff with individual room projects.
4. Provides music instruction and music therapy to individuals and groups of students.
5. Develops a variety of student performing groups such as rhythm bands, choral groups,
bell choirs, and dance groups.
6. Provides consultation to staff, parents / guardians, and others regarding music therapy
services.
7. May supervise music therapy interns as assigned.
8. May be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of behavior
management procedures for students assigned to music therapy.
