Location : Hybrid 2 days onsite in downtown Chicago, 3 days remote
Program Financial Analyst responsibilites :
Participates in ongoing consultations with Senior Management to define information required to support business operation decisions;
designs, prepares and presents reports and recommendations using advanced analytical tools. Business operations include both financial and non-financial aspects of operations.
Compiles, develops and derives data and information to be used in various analyses of corporate and program operations, financial operations, and service delivery statistics;
and compares to forecasts and established objectives. Investigates and evaluates discrepancies and variances.
- Reviews information to identify program and financial trends or deficiencies. Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes recommendations to senior and executive management teams based upon these forecasts and analyses.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets for use in preparing and monitoring individual and overall program budgets, measuring program operation and service delivery.
- Participates in the development of annual budgets for individual programs and departments by compiling historical data, completing projections of operating costs and service delivery, developing summary totals of operating and capital budgets, and collaborating with executive and senior management.
Assembles documentation and final recommendations for review and use by superiors in planning and approving final budgets.
- Plan and coordinate Analysis and Planning response, including budgets, pricing and statistical information, and contribute expertise in development of RFP and grant proposals, recommendations, and strategies that promote achievement of overall corporate goals and business plans.
- Compiles, analyzes and updates grant budgets to support operations.
- Develops, maintains, and enhances models for short and long term financial forecasting. Analyzes and monitors balance sheet and cash flow statement, with particular emphasis on financing and financing covenants.
Makes recommendations to senior management based on these forecasts and analyses.
- Participates in special projects and analyses as directed, as an individual or team member. Participation typically involves compilation of data and information from diverse source documents, and preparing projections, forecasts and statistical analyses.
- Serves as a resource to others in evaluating data, interpreting outcomes, and devising appropriate responses. Responsible for orienting and training others to run reports and maintain various information reporting tools.
Requirements :
- Minimum of 2 years of previous relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of financial and budget analyses, advanced communication skills and ability to conduct financial analyses and evaluations of program operations and outcomes;
at a level normally required through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
Strong Data Analysis skills and previous budgeting and reporting system experience required. Microsoft Excel skills required (2016 or later).
Prior experience with the following systems : Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI, Great Plains, Axiom (Kaufman Hall) or Netsmart Avatar is a plus.
Interpersonal skills necessary to work cooperatively with all levels of management and across all departments to gather and exchange information and evaluate strategic, corporate performance and program results.
Advanced communication skills necessary to prepare and present data, discuss reports and make recommendations to senior management.
Advanced analytical abilities necessary to identify discrepancies and variances in results, comparing forecasts and current operations, and develop accurate systems to track and monitor data.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail necessary to analyze financial data, service delivery statistics, and monitor variances.
- Critical thinking skills in order to gather, assess and interpret information effectively in order to identify reasonable causes / effects, figure out solutions to complex problems, provide insights and make recommendations.
- Organizational and project management skills to coordinate tasks associated with program start-ups and closures; and the ability to develop scopes of work and project plans as well as the ability to monitor progress relating to the budgeting process.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to communicate with others in order to gather and exchange information.
- Ability to continually proofread, check and verify data from printed form and computer monitor display.
- Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to enter, retrieve, and / or audit information and data.
- Ability to travel to business locations
