The Position
As a Senior Game Designer, you will be asked to take on a variety of implementation and feature design challenges to help bring great gameplay and live experiences to players, such as :
- Experience of the entire product life cycle from concepting and prototypes all the way to driving results across frequent post launch live experience
- Will be accountable with creating and deploying successful gameplay and systems to drive enhanced player acquisition, retention and monetization strategies.
- Data-driven design prowess to influence live game systems and economie
- Author, development and unify live game design across all team
- Work with Product Owner and Product Live director to evolve existing designs to increase KPIs (eg. Retention goals, Monetization conversion rates).
- Collaborating with coworkers and other teams (design, art, animation, programming, etc.) to align on expectations and execution
- Identify trends and evaluate the suitability to our current games.

Rockstar Games is on the lookout for an Animator who possess a passion for animation and performance capture. The successful candidate will be involved in prepping and running our performance capture shoots, working closely with directors and actors to craft our cinematics and in-game animation.
They will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and usability of all animation captured in this way. This position will largely be on-set at our Motion Capture studio in Long Island, NY.
WHAT WE DO
- We are integral to the planning and direction of performance capture shoots using our mocap facilities to create content for our games.
- We collaborate with performance directors and actors to craft stunning cinematics and ground-breaking animation systems.
- We ensure our production teams are fully briefed on all animation requirements ahead of our performance capture shoots.
- We work with the global animation and design teams to create unique player experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pre-production investigation of all technical animation needs for each mocap request.
- Use animation knowledge to assist production with shoot scheduling and casting.
- Ensure performance directors are fully briefed on all technical requirements of a shot.
- Work with performers, create animation that is responsive, cinematic and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with the design team to create immersive cinematic and in-game experiences.
- Post-shoot animation documentation and dissemination of information to the global animation team.
- Help to improve animation production pipelines.
- On set presence required at our mocap facility for all projects, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Art / Animation or equivalent experience.
- Outstanding demo reel.
- Minimum 4 years of experience animating video games.
SKILLS
- Exceptional skill in animating the human figure to create realistic character animations.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work closely with Performance Directors, Producers, Artists, Actors, Designers and Programmers.
- Experience working with actors and on motion capture stages.
- Strong understanding of development issues in getting animation into a game.
- Positive, solution-orientated individual, with deep-rooted interest in films and video games.
- Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges throughout production.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Advanced knowledge of MotionBuilder and motion capture.
- Professional experience developing third person action games.
- Experience of film editing, lighting or VFX.
- Practical knowledge of state machines and motion trees.

The pay range for this position in New York City at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year.
However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and / or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits.

NYC Pay Range
$75,900-$101,200 USD
