An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nation's first cancer prevention research program and serves as the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network.

The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) and Coronavirus Prevention Network (CoVPN) Laboratory in the Immunology & Vaccine Development Program of the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Division is dedicated to understanding human immunology and mechanisms of vaccine-induced immune protection against HIV and other infectious diseases.

The Cohn Lab, part of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA is recruiting a Data Scientist I to support the work of the lab through the computational analysis of HIV, human immunology, and virology.

The Cohn Lab works towards the eradication of HIV through human immunology, virology, and state-of-the-art technologies to study clinical samples from HIV-cure studies.

We focus our research on understanding the molecular, immunological and virologic forces that drive vaccine efficacy and persistence of HIV-infected cells.Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain computational pipelines to analyze sequencing data from HIV-cure studies to quickly and efficiently take raw data to interpretable results
  • Computationally integrate multi-omic data from multiple experimental approaches
  • Stay up-to-date with bioinformatics methods and analyses published to keep the lab's computational protocols consistent with the leading algorithms in the field
  • Research and apply existing software solutions to answer questions on a variety of different projects
  • Preform rigorous statistical analysis of generated results
  • Communicate complex computational techniques and results to a broad audience of scientists with various backgrounds
  • Understand and communicate technical advantages and disadvantages of a variety of different types of datasets and analyses
  • Create visualizations and presentations of results that effectively communicate key messages

Qualifications

  • BA / BS required in biology, statistics, computer science or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • At least five years of experience with biology, computer science, and / or computational biology (may be concurrent with undergraduate or graduate education)
  • Experience with a variety of computer science concepts, algorithms, and problem solving skills
  • Experience coding in R and Python required, experience with Java, C++, Julia and other languages is a plus
  • Knowledge of genomics techniques and how to apply them in a variety of settings
  • A background in statistical analysis
  • A successful candidate will show curiosity and an initiative to learn new techniques, as well as exceptional organizational and communication skills

The Business Analyst is responsible for the design, development, testing, maintenance and support of business analytics and reporting solutions that support the Chief Operating Officer's (COO) organization.

Qualifications

  • Technology related degree or certification from a recognized academic institution and / or directly equivalent IT work experience

The Data Analyst is part of the Philanthropy Advancement Services (AS) team and reports to the Director, Philanthropy Analytics & Data Architecture.

The 20+ member AS team manages and analyzes an extensive donor / prospect database with more than 600,000 constituent and prospect records combined.

AS helps maintain and strengthen the Philanthropy infrastructure while stressing the importance of quality data collection, centralized acknowledgement and gift handling, outstanding prospect management and research, valuable analytics and reporting, innovative software integration, campaign readiness, Luminate TeamRaiser web production, and database administration, integrity, and training.

The Database Analyst uses various specialized data sources (RENXT, Luminate Online, Smartsheet, Tableau, and SQL Server) and software applications to extract data, create reports, and deliver valued business insights.

The analyst prepares accurate and timely data sets that enable Philanthropy to execute mailing campaigns, mail invitations, reconcile data pools, and report on outcomes.

The Philanthropy team designs and evaluates fundraising strategies based on analyst projects. In addition, this position helps maintain data workbooks that improve philanthropy operations, streamline business practices, and reduce staff time and effort.

A variety of special projects are associated with this position. This role is also responsible for interacting with the customer base in the gathering and documenting of reporting requirements.

The Data Analyst monitors shared work queue resources at all times for email and mailing deadlines. This position will be a hyrid role minimum 2 days per week at our South Lake Union campus. Responsibilities

  • Master all relevant aspects of the RENXT, Luminate Online, Omatic, Tableau, Smartsheet, and SQL Server
  • Execute complex queries to cultivate prospective and current donor communications
  • Demonstrate skills in interpreting complex problems and executing collaborative solutions
  • Identify and act on opportunities to reduce data redundancy and improve data quality

Under the direction of the CRS Finance Research Administrative Manager, the Senior Fiscal Analyst performs central post-award office financial functions and services related to the administration of industry sponsored projects awarded to Investigators and staff at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (Fred Hutch).

As a part of the CRS central finance team, the Senior Financial Analyst position works closely with central administrative departments including Finance, Accounting, and the Office of Sponsored Projects.

The Fiscal Analyst acts as a post-award resource to study program managers across the Center's scientific divisions. Responsibilities SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY : The incumbent is expected to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities within the framework of departmental policies and procedures. JOB DUTIES :

  • Complete post-award financial activities for industry sponsored clinical and non-clinical research projects. These activities include, but are not limited to, processing award activations, cost transfers, journal entries, labor and non-labor cost redistributions, budget reallocations and budget booking, budget extensions, completion of required financial reports and completion of all internal audit dictated financial close-outs processes.
  • Analyze fully executed agreements and negotiated budgets, interpret obligations to the Sponsor, and determine appropriate course of action and present findings.
  • Gather data, analyze information, develop conclusions, communicate recommendations clearly and work effectively with others on a team;

effectively translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization.

  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes and effectively accomplish assigned duties / tasks by coordinating work of teammates and other end users.

The Courier I is responsible for the pick-up, transportation and delivery of lab specimens, medical records, and patient related documentation among various departments within FHCC clinic, on FHCC campus.Responsibilities

  • Complete all scheduled and requested pickups.
  • Monitor courier phone and manage shifting priorities to maintain route schedule.
  • Maintain courier logs in pickup / delivery locations and ensure courier entries are legible, accurate and adhere to standard written procedures.
  • Report and assist with tracking of missing or damaged specimens and charts.
  • Assist with review and revision of routes and training new couriers as needed.

QualificationsRequired :

  • A High School Degree, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate in person professionally and effectively and in writing.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computerized or automated system operations and record keeping practices.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of units of measure.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently walk during most of eight-hour shift, an average of 10-12 miles per day.

Preferred :

  • One year experience in a hospital / clinic environment preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge and practice of safe blood borne pathogen handling techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
