Our School
Houston Classical Charter School ( Houston Classical ) was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020 beginning with kindergarten and first grade.
The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. We are looking for experienced, dedicated, and motivated individuals who are excited by the challenge of being part of a new school.
Houston Classical is founded on the idea that scholars can learn at a high level notwithstanding their zip code or background.
Mission of Houston Classical
Houston Classical's mission is to ensure all scholars K-8 are successful through a classical approach, rigorous academics, character development, and structured environment to ensure success in high school, college and in life.
Roles and Responsibility for Finance Director
- Setting the strategic vision for the finance function and overseeing all aspects of financial operations
- Serving as the financial point of contact for leadership, our board, and external partners, working closely with all leaders to solve our organization's highest priorities and most critical challenges
- Preparing for and leading the Board of Directors Finance Committee meetings
- Managing the internal finance team, who will be carrying out all day to day financial activities
- Planning and executing a strategic plan to bring the organization's finance and accounting functions fully in-house and growing the team's capacity
- Developing a robust annual budget across all schools and entities and managing spend to ensure the organization is financially healthy at all times
- Working with the finance team to build models for analysis of financial feasibility of potential real estate deals or projects
- Monitoring financial activity across the organization to ensure that fraud and risk are minimized
- Managing the annual audit process
- Ensuring the organizations' financial records, data, and reports are accurate and compliant
- Work with back office providers to ensure accurate reporting, expenditures, timely reports, and any all items that may financially affect the organizations.

- The Finance Director will have a weekly check-in meeting with the Schools CEO
