Food Logistics Specialist
The Food Logistics Specialist is responsible for driving Eskenazi Health vehicles to successfully complete all department deliveries, to include : straight trucks, box trucks and cargo vans.
This role works with both internal and external clients to ensure that all deliveries are received and verified in a satisfactory manner, and would be required to load and unload the vehicles, frequently unsupervised.
Additionally this role will have responsibility for inventory management, shipping and receiving of goods, and managing the logistical aspects of the planning, coordination, and delivery of products in collaboration with their supervisor.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible for all department associated deliveries and professional driving including but not limited to : vending, catering, community feeding and special events.
Most driving will be unsupervised.
Communicates with both internal and external vendors to ensure accuracy and quality of orders received. Delivers excellent customer service when performing deliveries and works to address any client concerns;
communicates to leadership when issues arise
- Assists with receiving department deliveries, verifies items against invoices to ensure accuracy of the delivery, inspects received items for damage, signs delivery invoice, and informs management of any discrepancies
- Assists with inventory control and placing orders as needed, putting away stock in an organized manner according Indiana State Department of Health and Marion County Health Department regulations
- Ensures the safety of others when operating vehicles lift gates, and pallet jacks to load, unload and move product. Follows all Indiana driving laws and responsibilities for professional drivers.
- Maintains cleanliness of all department vehicles, refuels vehicles and takes primary responsibility for maintenance and communicating issues to leadership
- Takes primary responsibility for stocking vending machines located on campus and throughout the city. Will also be responsible for collecting cash from machines, and completing accurate required reports
- Utilizes inventory management system to generate reports and requisitions for deliveries, making adjustments to the system to ensure accuracy at the completion of delivery
- Performs other job related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in the service industry, professional driving, or a warehouse environment
- Experience driving a straight truck up to 26’ long and 15,999 lbs., operating a lift gate, and moving pallets up to 1,200 lbs. from truck to ground height
- Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license that meets Eskenazi Health’s driving policy requirements; CDL preferred

Call Center Agent
The Room Service Coordinator is responsible for maintaining electronic diet orders, supplements, tube feeds, and nourishments per physician’s orders, as well as communicating patient needs with other medical practitioners.
This position is responsible for essential tasks associated with patient meal service by assisting patients and guests with meal selections via centralized call center and / or at bedside.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Embodies excellent customer service skills, assisting with meal tray assembly, delivery, and sanitation, and serving as a resource to other service personnel throughout the hospital system;
works in a team-based environment and communicates daily with patients, visitors, guests, and other personnel within the department and on hospital floors in order to maintain optimal patient feeding
- Offers appropriate menu selections to patients and guests in accordance with physician-prescribed diet restrictions; obtains patient meal orders via electronic menu management system in conjunction with phone system, and routes tickets to kitchen for tray assembly;
- follows established call center and bedside scripting in order to obtain room service meal orders; advises patients on allowable food items based on prescriptive diet order;
applies necessary changes to patient meal orders to meet established meal goals
- Follows hospital and departmental procedures related to patient identification and standards of care in order to maintain patient safety;
- washes hands upon entry and exit of patient rooms, dons appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), etc; prepares and verifies enteral formulas, nutritional supplements, and snacks for prescribed patients;
utilizes active patient identification per hospital standard of patient name and date of birth
- Embodies excellent customer service by upholding a professional attitude as a representative of the department when interacting with guests, visitors, patients, and employees;
- resolves patient and visitor complaints in a timely and efficient manner; obtains feedback information from patients in order to assess overall service performance;
- advocates for patient care by communicating directly with Registered Dietitians, Certified Dietary Managers, or other necessary personnel in order to fulfill specialized patient requests;
serves in the department command center and follows emergency procedures as directed by the incident commander; communicates with nursing staff regarding patients who need special accommodations such as isolation trays, insulin patients, therapeutic needs, allergies, etc.
- Handles food and food service areas in accordance with Indiana State Department of Health, Joint Commission regulations and departmental policy and procedures;
- follows a daily cleaning schedule of assigned areas in order to maintain cleanliness / sanitation; identifies and safely uses chemical cleaning agents stocked for various pieces of service equipment, table tops, floors, and dish machine;
- prioritizes hand-hygiene within the kitchen in addition to utilizing disposable gloves when indicated; adheres to departmental hygiene and dress-code standards in order to provide safe food to vulnerable populations;
uses the First-In First-Out (FIFO) rotation method when supplying inventory items to patient floors and / or re-stocking supplies for the patient room service line
- Maintains productivity standards in order to assure patient meal orders and supplies are obtained, assembled, and delivered in established time frames;
- obtains meal orders in established time frame in correlation with daily patient census and assigned workload; works closely with menu management software to support all job and department related tasks;
- logs inventory supplied to various cost centers via requests routed throughout the health care system; updates patient information to maintain accurate records and runs reports related to patient and / or retail feeding;
may process payments for non-patient feeding requests
Completes other associated job duties as assigned;
Job Requirements
- Associate’s degree; OR two years of experience in customer service or food and nutrition services in a comparable position
- Must complete training and competencies as Room Service Associate as a prerequisite for job placement
- One year of experience in food and nutrition services with an emphasis on therapeutic diets and patient care
- Ability to read, write and understand English required; ability to read, write and understand Spanish preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of computer functions and ability to work with Microsoft Office and related hospital electronic menu management and health record systems
- Ability to effectively use electronic menu management system and electronic health record (EHR) programs as related to essential job functions
- General knowledge of safe food storage, preparation and handling

Dishwasher
The Steward I position is primarily responsible for daily cleansing and sanitizing of assigned kitchen and dish room area(s).
This includes floor and trash maintenance, stocking assigned areas with clean dish ware, washing and organizing dishes and kitchen equipment, receiving stock items and rotating them per safe food handling guidelines, and safely utilizing chemical cleansing agents for various pieces of service equipment.
Provides outstanding customer service in a variety of retail, restaurant, and healthcare settings within the hospital system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintains the overall cleanliness and organization of the dish area by washing, sanitizing, organizing, and putting away dishes and kitchen equipment;
- Stocks all assigned areas with service equipment (kitchenware, utensils, dishes and glassware);
- Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of the walk in cooler, freezer, dry stock and storage rooms, walls, floors, racks and bins;
- Empties trash throughout assigned work area as needed;
- Identifies and safely uses chemical cleaning agents stocked for various pieces of service equipment, table tops, floors, and dish machine;
- Upholds a professional attitude and embodies excellent customer service when interacting with guests, visitors, patients, and other employees;
- Assists with stocking food and / or delivery items in accordance with first-in first-out (FIFO) rotation system;
- Retrieves dish ware and service items from patient soiled utility rooms or from conference areas at the conclusion of special / catered events;
- Delivers patient meal trays following established regulatory standards in regards to hand-washing and two-patient identification;

Medical Assistant - PRN
The Medical Assistant PRN provides patient care which takes into account patient response to care provided, patient needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, and progress toward goals.
Alters activities / behaviors to ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric).
This positions works on an as needed, PRN basis.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Job Requirements
- Certification or Registered MA, minimum of 1 year of experience
- If not certified or registered, minimum 3 years of experience as an Medical Assistant required
- Graduation from an education program for the medical assistant is preferred
- CPR certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is preferred)
- Current TB Education certification is preferred
