1010 WINS, New York’s 24-hour all-news station, is looking for a part-time News Production Assistant (NPA). This is an entry-level position with great growth potential.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task under deadline pressure, and strong critical thinking skills.

Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, be immersed in local news, and understand the importance of ethics and news standards.

Creativity, curiosity, and strong social media skills are strongly encouraged. This is a tough, big-city newsroom filled with hard-driving seasoned news professionals.

The anticipated starting salary range for New York, NY-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $16.84 / hr-$18.49 / hr.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities :

  • Must be willing to work different shifts as part of a 24 / 7 news operation, including working weekends, holidays, and overnights
  • Assist editors and management in all aspects of newsroom operations
  • Conduct interviews with newsmakers
  • Monitor and contribute to social media
  • Identify news stories and ideas to pitch to editors and management

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Radio production and journalism background strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with how to leverage social media platforms
  • Must be able to manage and meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of current events and industry trends
  • Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and audio / video editing systems a plus

KNX 97.1 FM, Los Angeles’ only 24-hour all-news station is looking for a part-time News Production Assistant (NPA). This is an entry-level position that requires strong communications skills, the ability to multitask under extreme deadline pressure, and the capability to think critically.

Responsibilities include preparing audio for air, setting up and monitoring live reports and interviews, answering questions from the public, and handling general newsroom duties as directed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :

  • Prepare audio for broadcast
  • Set up and monitor live shots and interviews
  • Answer telephones and handle listener questions
  • Monitor news sources and contribute story ideas
  • Provide general assistance to the news staff, particularly during breaking news coverage

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Radio production and / or journalism background strongly preferred
  • Must be able to manage and meet strict deadlines
  • Experience with audio editing systems required
  • Working knowledge of general office computer and newsroom software a plus
  • Must be available to work different shifts (including overnights, weekends, holidays) and be amenable to changes in work schedule

A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
