Manufacturing Engineer
Dover Precision Components is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our Cook Compression brand, located at our state-of-the-art Houston facility (southside, near Pearland).

process change management, 5S, standard work instruction creation, auditing, and the capacity planning of one of the five value streams producing one or more of our products.
The qualified candidate will have manufacturing process improvement experience, and thoroughly understand fundamental lean manufacturing principles.
The Manufacturing Engineer also performs a variety of technical and detail-orientated roles as related to the Health, Safety and Environmental policies of the Company.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work with the Operations team to make operational adjustments as necessary, to ensure continued growth in productivity and efficiency, by reviewing KPIs, daily.
- Under general direction, plan and implement the layouts of the plant, and production equipment to provide the maximum utilization of facilities, and the efficiency of production.
- Apply lean principles to optimize work / process flow, to include reducing machine set-up and changeover times (SMED).
- Investigate and implement new technologies to digitalize and automate product manufacturing and machine connectivity within the plant.
- Implement the digital factory process across the site, and across other sites.
- Leverage the company’s ERP system (Syteline) to analyze manufacturing data.
- Document standard work, including creation of work instructions, recording, and analyzing cycle times, and value stream mapping.
- Initiate and lead Kaizen events.
- Initiate and lead manufacturing improvement projects.
- Author formal requests for capital expenditures.
- Positively influence personnel during process changes, and successfully manage that change.
- Other necessary task as defined by the Manufacturing Engineering manager.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or related discipline.
- CAD experience required, including 2D and 3D. Additional technologies preferred : CAM and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Preferred experience to include 3+ years manufacturing experience, preferably with CNC, compression molding and / or injection molding industry background.
- Practical knowledge of continuous improvement practices, formal problem solving (Ishikawa Diagram, A3, 5 Why, etc,), and lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools to create spreadsheets, standard work instructions, and other documents.
- Experience in successfully leading projects and working on cross- functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

JOB SUMMARY :
Observes, Reports, Maintain Visibility, and Provides Service to all departments, employees, visitors, customers, contractors, or vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (Other duties may be assigned)
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property on foot or in a vehicle while deterring trespassing and observing suspicious activities.
Ability to multi-task and work alone.
- Ability to use Bosch Operator Client DVR system, Windows computer program, and Microsoft Office programs. Using a two-way radio and smart cell phone to promptly document patrol duties, tour scans, and incident reports.
- Ability to respond and identify alarms for fire, burglar, HVAC, and generator alarms on designated panels or UPS backup systems.
- Ability to inspect and report manufacturing or HVAC equipment in alarm for correction or shut down.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities in building security measures and / or facility operations and informing violators of Company policy and procedures.
- Enforces parking policies and assignments with employees, contractors, and visitors on private property areas.
- Follows post instructions and security policies and guidelines. Obtains signatures, contractor information, and receipts for company business transactions.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned in collaboration with other team members.
- Ensures secured areas are frequently audited by conducting foot and vehicle patrols.
- Maintains the organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements, company guidelines, and uniform standards.
- Monitor and control access at building entrances, common areas, and vehicle gates

Education :

Experience :
A minimum of 2 years of documented Security experience is required, preferably in the manufacturing industry. Military and Law Enforcement (including Explorer program) experience desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Have a current and valid guard card / license as per the California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services. CPR and AED training is desired a valid and active Class C Driver’s License.
Security Officers are requested to perform vehicle escorts details about twice a week.
Computer Skills :
Bosch Operator Client DVR system, Windows computer programs, Microsoft Office programs . Knowledgeable use of a smart mobile device and mobile phone applications for data entry and processing is desired.
Mathematical Abilities :

This position reports to the Production Supervisor and has responsibilities for the fabrication operations as listed and required in the essential duties and responsibilities section.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Lays out, fits and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, winch parts, post driver parts, according to blueprints and knowledge of welding and metallurgy.
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly and welding applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Required to maintain accurate and timely transactions in the ERP system.
- Performs related tasks, such as thermal cutting and grinding.
- Have a thorough knowledge & experience in blueprint reading, use of welding tools, welding techniques, layout & fit up.
- May train other employees and help in other departments as required.
- This position is also responsible for, with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing when a problem is identified, protect the environment, including preventing pollution, analyzing or identifying areas for correction or improvement.
Qualifications / Requirements :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or successful completion of a vocational welding school; one to four years related experience in welding of products, pieces and parts similar to those found in TWG’s product line and market segment;
or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have successfully completed all required tests and certifications.
Must be able to travel as required and / or directed.
