Job Description : "Mechanical design engineer for a RAD-IRAD program. Position requires an experienced engineer capable of leading technical feasibility studies, conceptual design trades, and cost benefit analyses related to packaging new subsystems and structures into a missile to reduce cost, improve performance, and / or enable component commonality with other missiles.

Detailed design, drawing creation, and prototype development also required. In addition to RAD-IRAD initiatives, the selected candidate will work some TDP updates for parent program New Platform I&T test vehicles.

Candidate must be proficient in the use of Catia V5 surfacing, have excellent verbal, presentation, GD&T, and written skills.

Effort requires ability to perform design trade studies, tolerance analysis, evaluating cost, weight, structural / thermal benefits.

Candidate should be able to work with a diverse team of internal organizations, managing supplier input, and developing internal documentation to meet contractual TDP delivery expectations.

Travel to Troy or suppliers may be required on an as needed basis. Individual should be familiar with mechanical hardware fabrication approaches and techniques.

A secret security clearance, or ability to obtain one, is required.

Our client has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Contractor for the Global Hawk Republic of Korea (ROK) program. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

This Mechanical Engineering Contractor will report to the Air Vehicle Installations IPT Manager and will work to design aircraft secondary structure, equipment installations / layouts, and route Air Vehicle harnesses using 3D modeling software.

Close coordination with production teams and other technical groups is required in order to integrate equipment and systems into the aircraft.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

Proficiency in mechanical design with CATIA Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

Experience creating and releasing Build-To-Print (BTP) engineering packages

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization

Selected candidate should thrive working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and high visibility

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or other STEM degree

5+ years of industry experience -OR- 3+ years of industry experience with an Engineering Master's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Previous experience in aviation and defense programs

Ability to route cable harnesses using CATIA V5

Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter or Enovia

Experience in applying Configuration Management practices

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M application

Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking, troubleshooting issues, and problem-solving skills
