SUMMARY

A Level I Trauma Hospital in Cincinnati, OH is searching for a permanent Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to join their team! This unit is made up of wonderful, compassionate staff and leaders and they have a great team-like atmosphere.

This is a Generalist position, and there is also an oncology component.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for performing the routine test on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, as well as providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with documented laboratory procedures and performs quality control for all testing
  • Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal / unusual results

REQUIREMENTS :

  • For MLT : Associates of Science in Medical Lab Technology required
  • For MLS : Bachelor of Science in one of the following : Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry required Medical Lab Technician Program and military medical laboratory training courses will also be considered
  • Completion of an externship program required

Responsibilities :

Performance of a variety of analytical procedures of moderate to high complexity, using manual and automated methods, and through a variety of clinical laboratory methodologies.

In this function, must be able to perform all required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations and other process control and mathematical functions.

Associate must also be able to understand concepts such as linearity, and standard deviation, as it applies to the performance of analytical testing in a clinical laboratory.

Handles supply and inventory issues as required / assigned, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc.

as required for performance of laboratory procedures. Follows laboratory section inventory procedures (e.g., recording date received, condition when received, checking order forms, invoices, etc.

Retrieves supplies, equipment from storage areas as needed.

Trains others as assigned (e.g., students, new employees, etc.).

Participates in department and hospital quality and improvement programs.

Position Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program.

Minimum of six (6) months experience. Experience can include clinical practicum time as a student.

Florida Technologist License in Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Microbiology and Immunohematology. Florida Technologist License in Molecular Pathology preferred.

Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent. (ASCP, AAB or AMT).

Willingness to learn other areas.
