FLINT is growing and is looking for Turnaround / Shutdown Managers instrumental to securing bids for turnaround / shutdown work and construction projects awarded and upcoming.
Successful candidates will have a keen eye for safety, quality, and schedule, with proven experience as an engaging and motivational leader.
Opportunities are available across Western Canada, with most of our work in Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia. Contract lengths are dependent on each project.
Successful applicants must be able to travel or relocate for the project’s duration.

What would you be doing?
- Provide leadership and guidance to the turnaround team during the planning, execution, and closure phases.
- Facilitate developing, communicating and achieving the turnaround goals and objectives.
- Implement Standardize Turnaround processes and procedures to foster continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain a Milestone & Activity Chart to identify required activities to organize, plan and execute the turnaround.
- Develop an integrated execution plan which includes work scope, capital and engineering projects.
- Monitor the project’s overall status to address significant deviations and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure safety and quality are maintained by Turnaround Team members, employees, and contractors.
- Implement a logistics plan to ensure smooth execution and efficient demobilization of resources and equipment.
- Ensure all post-turnaround work scope is prioritized and completed on time.
- Develop turnaround lessons learned and evaluate the performance of all contractors and vendors.
Does this sound like you?
- Significant experience using SAP, Primavera, and standard Microsoft Office Software
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand complex instructions.
- Displays a safe and productive work ethic.
- Handle the administrative duties of the position, including completion of required documents.
- Read and interpret drawings.
- Journeyman ticket in a mechanical trade or degree in a mechanical discipline.

What would you be doing?
Contract Management & Resource Planning
- Work with the Superintendents to expedite and coordinate site resources needed to effectively implement the work, including sub-contractors, materials, construction equipment and labour.
- Proactively involved in setting client expectations from the Executive level to entry-level staff.
- Professional and timely communication with partners and vendor suppliers that inspires everyone on the project to want to exceed your expectations.
- Will provide direction to Flint Superintendent, General Foreperson, Foreperson and direct field labour.
- Work with clients through change management practices to remain contractually aligned and within scope.
- Interpret requests for proposals and prepare bid packages.
Forecasting & Reporting
- Responsible for workforce planning, including developing all work scopes, shift schedules, and fieldwork packages to implement and control all work to a safe and efficient completion.
- Develop and analyze reports to be delivered both internally and externally.
- Analyze project / operational financial data and implement performance action plans to improve operating results.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all field activities under the span of control meet or exceed safety, quality, schedule, and cost through efficiently using all resources, including staffing, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure that daily and weekly short-range planning is appropriately implemented at the foreperson level.
- Inspire a culture that supports by example, where your actions and words align with FLINT’s core values.
Does this sound like you?
- Multiple years of experience managing brownfield / greenfield construction, pipeline, facility shutdowns and projects.
- Past construction project experience managing multiple projects ranging from $2-10 million while using over 25-300 craft personnel and numerous contractors.
- A combination of education and experience in business management, project management or other related technical specialties.
- Utilize software systems for estimating, scheduling and project management.
- Technical ability in the mechanical / piping sector, including shutdown / turnaround implementation, operations coordination, equipment management, cost estimating and bid development.
- Journeyperson Trade certification in a mechanical field or related post-secondary degree would be an asset.
- An understanding of human resources and HSE standards.

- Ensure that daily and weekly short-range planning is executed correctly, right down to the foreman.
- Inspire a culture that leads by example, where your actions and words align with Flint's core values.
- Work with Project Manager on schedule, estimate and progress updates.
Does this sound like you?
- Past construction project experience, managing multiple projects up from 2-15 million while using over 50-100 craft personnel and numerous contractors.
- Journeyperson Trade certification in a mechanical field or related post-secondary degree would be an asset.
- Utilize software systems for estimating, scheduling, and project management.
- Positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Valid safety tickets.
