WELDER - SANITATION
BRIEF DESCRIPTION :
The purpose of this position is to provide assembly and repair for metal structures, such as dumpsters, hydraulic systems and sanitation trucks, used in the collection and disposal of waste.
This is accomplished by the use of welding equipment for cutting, joining and brazing of a variety of metals and metal parts in repair, maintenance or fabrication tasks and minor automotive mechanical repairs.
Assignments are received in oral or written form and are occasionally accompanied by blueprints, drawings or specifications.
Work is performed with considerable independence and under general supervision. Work is reviewed for timely completion of work assignments and quality of work.
Performs related work as required.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS :
Driver’s License Required YType - BEndorsements N - Tanker
Individuals who do not currently have a Class B N license will be enrolled in the ELDT program. They will have 30 days from the start of the online class to complete the Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) and 60 days to complete the Behind the Wheel training.
The Commercial Driver's License must be provided to the City. No individual will be given more than 1 business day prior to the end of their probation to meet this requirement as a condition of employment.

Code Essential Functions
1LRegular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2HRepairs trucks and equipment and completes special projects by laying out designs, fabricating parts, and welding to trucks and equipment.
3HRepairs containers by fitting and welding to repair, installing new doors and lids, installing hinges, modifying doors and lids for installations, loading and unloading vendor materials, and completing repairs.
4HCompletes field repairs in alleys and on customer locations by repairing doors, hinges, gates and lift pins.
5HFitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other welding material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.

Description of Minimum Job Requirements-
Formal EducationWork requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
ExperienceOver one year up to and including two years.
