Behavior Technician (Part-Time, Entry Level)
Life Skills Autism Academy (LSAA) is looking for exceptional individuals to join our organization as a Registered Behavior Technician!
LSAA is our specialized facility, designed for Early Intensive Behavior Intervention and here, we serve children, up to age 6, who have received a diagnosis of Autism.
What does a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Do? :
A BT / RBT is a Certified provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is a science-based practice designed to identify, assess, understand, and then shape behaviors and skills.
Through repetition and positive reinforcement, a Behavior Technician / Registered Behavior Technician will help a client to build skills and behaviors that will allow them to more successfully navigate the world around them! A BT / RBT aims to build up their clients' skills and behaviors so they may be able to engage in social relationships, experience increased independence, and improve their overall quality of life.
The overarching goal is to provide a client with the tools they need to pursue their own goals, interests, relationships, dreams, etc.
and to reach their full potential!
An RBT follows an individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) as designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
A BIP contains a variety of subject areas to focus on. The general areas of impact are Communication / Social Skills, Language Development, Activities of Daily Living, Academics, Motor Skills, Behavior Reduction, and more.
An RBT will use prompting, redirecting, and positive reinforcement to work towards, and ultimately, master skills and meet goals!
Behavior Technician Summary of Job Duties :
Provide direct client care in 1 : 1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training.
- Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client’s individualized treatment plan, as designed by BCBA / BC.
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
- Ensure documentation is completed on time and following established procedures.
- Communicate with parents / guardians / caregivers regarding client progress, as instructed by the BCBA / BC.
- Assist with parent / guardian / caregiver training, as instructed by the BCBA / BC.
- Utilize appropriate safety protocols when working with client(s). Report critical incidents and safety concerns accordingly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Assist BCBA / BC with day-to-day tasks as needed, such as preparing session space and materials, coordinating assessments, and demonstrating skill acquisition as requested.
- Participate in supervised sessions according to Company & Board requirements :
- 10% of clients prescribed therapy hours will be supervised by a Clinician.
- Accept feedback and apply changes / recommendations to enhance practice and increase clinical outcomes.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge :
- If extended an offer, must be willing to participate in the Company’s background check process.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Need to be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have ABA certification - Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) Adult & Pediatric First Aid + CPR certifications.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) a clear Tuberculosis (TB) test prior to starting with a client, and annually thereafter.

- Getting up and down from the floor multiple times per day.
- Lifting up to 50lbs on occasion.
- Run / move quickly as needed to interact with and for the safety + protection of your client(s).
- Need to be reliable :
- Showing up on-time for each scheduled therapy session
- Giving advanced notice, and properly submitted for scheduled time off.
- Must maintain professionalism of both presentation and conduct.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining precision and quality.
- Able to maintain emotional control, especially when working with challenging behaviors such as aggression, tantrums, etc.
- A positive attitude and drive to achieve clients goals.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Strong understanding of technology - able to adapt to new software programs and navigate mobile device.
- Solid written & verbal communication skills.
- Good moral character.
- Strong cultural competency with ability to remain flexible and open minded.

Pay Rates :
This role starts at $20 per hour with RBT certification and goes up based on experience, certification level, and highest level of education

Starting Pay Range : $19 - $24
This pay scale range is the full range of potential wages Centria Autism reasonably expects to pay for employees with this job title and this pay scale range varies dependent on job qualifications, performance, experience, and / or seniority.

Requirements :
- Passionate about helping children with autism.
- Patient, compassionate, and able to work well in a team.
- 18+ years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to obtain a CPR, First Aid Certification and Tuberculosis test (if you haven’t had one in the last year)
- Ability to pass a pre employment background check
- Candidates must obtain a RBT Certification from the BACB
