Job Summary :

Carnegie Mellon University is embarking on a data project for aligning and aggregating graduate application and admission data.

The overall project goal is to provide solution(s) for routine and standard access to CMU’s graduate application and admission data allowing the university and academic colleges to perform analysis and assessments in areas like enrollment trends and enrollment management as well as overall program success and routine and future planning.

We are looking for a new team member who will develop a deep understanding of the graduate application data from the various graduate programs and application systems and primarily support this new data solution that combines all of this data for the University.

The Data Quality Analyst will work on cleaning data, person matching, and other data quality related tasks. The position may also prepare the data for use in Tableau dashboards and reports and may even stretch into developing them.

The position will primarily work on the graduate application data, but may also work on other similar data quality needs over time.

Responsibilities :

  • Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems.
  • Evaluate large datasets for quality and accuracy.
  • Perform complex analyses on data quality issues and share results and recommendations.
  • Assess business impact for issues and work to resolve them
  • Develop and implement data cleanup measures.
  • Maintain a record of original data and corrected data.
  • Ensure consistency with data quality standards.
  • Resolve all internal data exceptions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Identify areas of improvement to achieve data quality.
  • Collaborate with other team members to understand data requirements and implement solutions.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Enterprise data quality initiatives.
  • Continuously improve the data quality processes and procedures.

You should demonstrate :

  • Ability to perform data quality activities (data quality rule creation, profiling and deployment, edit checks, identification of issues, root cause analysis, value case analysis, remediation planning)
  • Experience in cleaning and validating large datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel.
  • Knowledge of at least one additional coding language that can be used for analysis (i.e. SAS, Python, R).
  • Knowledge of visualization tools such as Tableau.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
  • At least 3 years of data quality analysis experience
  • Experience in higher education is a plus.

SEI serves the nation as a not-for-profit, Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), specifically established by the U.

Our team, Platform Insight, seeks individuals with strong interest in understanding and resolving technical challenges in the national security space.

Our group focuses on applied research into the functionality of emerging and already ubiquitous technologies at all constituent logical layers, from component-level aspects through system and software implementation to communication protocols.

We examine the variation between expected and actual functionality that results from real-world implementation. Finally, in support of stakeholders throughout the US Government, we reason about and advise on the implications of our findings.

Qualified individuals will have a strong aptitude to reformulate open questions; devise creative solutions; deliver concise, rigorous prototype implementations;

and clearly articulate this process in discussions, presentations, and formal reports. Recent examples of our work have included novel approaches to analyzing network traffic, reasoning about automated imaging analysis, and software implementation of novel file and format extraction techniques.

Requirements :

  • BS in Computer Science or related quantitative discipline
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites, conferences, and offsite meetings (5%)
  • You will be subject to a background investigation and you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
