Responsibilities
NV5 is seeking a full-time Transportation Planner for our San Diego, CA office. The Transportation Planner will provide project assistance on a variety of transportation planning and traffic projects.
The most frequent and essential work activities include :
- Complete transportation planning and traffic design studies with limited supervision.
- Assist with mentoring and training other staff.
- Perform QA / QC review on assigned projects.
- Prepare project scopes and proposal material.
- Assist with public involvement activities including the preparation of newsletters, presentations, and other public meeting materials.
- Complete research and data collection, including field surveys.
- Maintain effective and successful communication with team, co-workers, and clients.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and of the highest quality.
- Market NV5 to existing and potential clients and maintain positive client relationships.
- Represent NV5 at professional functions.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or advanced degree in City or Urban Planning
- Minimum of 7 years of directly related professional work experience
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification - preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent writing skills
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment-preferred

UAV Pilot

- Be in physical and mental condition to safely operate small UAS
- A minimum of 500 hours unmanned flight time
- A minimum of 100 hours unmanned autonomous flight software in air time
- Work within guidelines of a Night Waiver
- A minimum of 100 hours of manual night flying
- Ability to operate Base stations and other GPS equipment
- Ability to operate UAV infrared equipment with autonomous flight software

NV5 has an immediate opening for a Department Manager to lead our NY based Traffic Engineering Group in New York City and Long Island.
The successful candidate will lead the traffic engineering group, with a view to growing our regional practice and will be experienced with business development, proposal preparation, mentoring and directing staff, client management and project administration.
The ideal candidate will have an educational background in traffic engineering principles, methodologies and transportation design with experience in analysis software such as Synchro, HCS and VISSIM.
Experience with CEQR process, and NYC and Long Island transportation agencies is also desired.
The Department Manager will lead projects as well as grow and enhance our regional consulting practice. This individual must be capable of taking projects from conception through construction, with a solid background in traffic engineering and operations, infrastructure planning and design involving roadway corridors, streets and bridge reconstruction projects.

Due to our continued growth, our New York City office is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead a team working on public infrastructure projects throughout the five boroughs.

We are seeking a full-time Water Resources / Environmental Engineer with 4+ years of experience in the field, to support our Water Resources / Environmental Team in our New York City office in Lower Manhattan.
NV5’s New York City office operates on a four-day work week, hybrid work schedule. Our Water Resources / Environmental Division specializes in providing stormwater management analysis & design, green infrastructure analysis & design, drainage studies, MS4 & USWR compliance and general water resources engineering in addition to environmental reviews, technical analyses, compliance with environmental regulations, and applying sustainable and resilient practices for a wide variety of projects.
This individual will have a key role in a broad range of projects for both our municipal and private sector clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide planning support for municipal stormwater management, green infrastructure, water quality BMPs, sewer and stormwater infrastructure design, stormwater funding, MS4 permitting, and other stormwater tasks / projects as assigned.
- Prepare complete construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of stormwater management, green infrastructure, water quality BMPs, sewer and stormwater infrastructure design, and other stormwater tasks / projects.
- Support environmental reviews in accordance with New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR), New York's State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR), and / or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) including Environmental Assessment Statements (EAS) and / or Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
- Prepare applications for environmental permitting programs such as those regulated by New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), and / or United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
- Develop Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) in accordance with the rules and regulations of NYCDEP and NYSDEC.
- Utilize various design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, StormCAD,Infoworks ICM and others, as applicable, to assist with the design and preparation of construction drawings
- Draft, review, and / or interpret technical reports and analyses for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with project teams on the application of the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Envision framework to the planning and design of infrastructure projects.
- Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with government agency personnel and the public.
- Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client
Qualifications
- A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, planning, sustainability and / or a related field
- EIT a required.
- Professional Engineer’s License in the State of New York (not required, but a plus)
- Familiarity with New York City, New York State, and federal environmental regulations
- Knowledge of NY / NYC stormwater management rules and regulations
