Aviation Electrification Leader

C&S is looking for a forward-thinking technical expert to help our airport clients navigate the complex topic of electrification, including battery energy storage.

C&S has been at the forefront of aviation sustainability for over a decade. As one of the first companies in the country to have a dedicated Aviation Sustainability practice, C&S is sought after for our expertise, strategic advising, and approach to seamlessly integrating sustainability planning and engineering services.

C&S’s aviation electrification and decarbonization services include :

  • Airport decarbonization planning
  • Renewable energy development
  • Battery energy storage system planning and design
  • Electric vehicle planning for airport fleets, ground support equipment, etc.
  • Design and installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Electric aircraft planning and infrastructure design
  • Electrification of airport building systems (i.e., natural gas utility conversion)
  • Airport energy efficiency consulting
  • Envision, LEED, WELL, and other sustainability rating systems - administration and execution (our team proudly delivered the first 5 airfield Envision awards and, more recently, the world’s first Envision Platinum award for an airfield project)
  • Assisting clients with funding strategies for these projects

What We’re Looking for in a New Teammate

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience and will be a technical expert in electrification of building systems and transportation.

The candidate should be comfortable working across disciplines (planning and engineering) to help clients take electrification projects from strategy through design and construction.

The candidate should also be comfortable speaking and engaging publicly, including at conferences and other public forums.

Aviation experience, or a passion for the industry, is a plus!

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Education

  • Experience helping organizations strategize, evaluate, and implement electrification solutions.
  • Ability to articulate and calculate electrification benefits to clients, including energy savings, emission reductions, cost savings, incentives, etc.
  • Understanding of barriers and challenges to electrification, and a creative mindset for helping clients solve them.
  • High level of comfort with electrification concepts, including strong technical grasp of renewable energy development, battery storage technologies, electric utilities, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and charging infrastructure.
  • Strong grasp on the role that electrification plays with respect to achieving decarbonization goals and the relationship between electrification and other decarbonization strategies.
  • Client-facing project management experience, or a similar function in an internal capacity.
  • Strong professional network of clients and industry partners.
  • Aviation experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation, team, interpersonal), relational, organizational & analytical skills are required.

Participation in conference presentations and other forums for industry thought leadership will be expected.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, sustainability or a related field.
  • PE and / or sustainability-related accreditations are a plus.

Location is flexible, with a preference for an existing C&S office location (see C&S website) .

Estimated Compensation Range : $125,000 175,000 / year*

Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education / training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.

How we Work as a Team

We are privileged to work with clients across the country in different regions and climates. We also collaborate as a team across time zones.

To ensure exceptional service (internally and externally), we value excellent communication skills and responsiveness. Fortunately, our IT team makes this easy with top-of-the-line technology platforms and tools.

While we coordinate frequently via remote meeting software and other tools, in-person connections are instrumental to our work.

Therefore, travel is a part of our business.

In this role, you would be working as part of a robust team of electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, and other engineering colleagues, as well as our Aviation Facilities and Aviation Planning colleagues.

Walking the walk

In addition to our consulting work, we actively participate in C&S’s corporate sustainability and DEI initiatives. We prioritize sustainability education among our teammates, have reduced resource consumption and waste at our offices, and are committed to offsetting carbon emissions from all business air travel through the Good Traveler Program.

We installed a rooftop solar system and provide free EV charging at our Syracuse Headquarters. We’re proud of these accomplishments but will need to do more and welcome your input and ideas!
